Can i use a marshalll JMP1 rack preamp into my blackstar ht amp somehow or can it only be run through a power amp?
Would it run through the effects loop or into the input?
Just wondered as i know someone who may want to shift one and would like to try without killing my amp or wasting my time.
Thanks

take the output of the preamp into the effects loop input on your other amp. that way the preamp section of your other amp is bypassed =)

Thanks mate. Not sure if he'll part with it but worth a try as he mentioned before and it would be pretty cheap so nothing to loose. He used with power amp so didnt know the answer.

That sounds right, but you may want to run it into the input if you like more gain in the signal path. It may sound like crap, but you don't know until you try.

Mesa and Groove Tubes both make tube guitar power amps designed for exactly that. You could also try and get a vintage Orange slave head- same thing basically. Assuming, of course, you couldn't integrate it with your current rig.
mmmmmm drop

I did that with my Behringer V-amp Pro for years... Those were dark days!Borderline Productions wrote:That sounds right, but you may want to run it into the input if you like more gain in the signal path. It may sound like crap, but you don't know until you try.
