Hey, this is my first post on the first forum

I am selling my Laney head to fund a Tiny Terror cause i think they are the perfect wee back-up amp to my Blackstar (sorry, just preferred the amp :S), and i was wondering if anyone has ever rehoused it as a tolex covered head?

It's just an idea, so i can end up with something a wee bit different, any ideas?

Frankly, I think it's a waste considering the amp. It's purely cosmetic and the amp is left unchanged in terms of its performance. There are several more attractive options IMO, which improve the actual amplifier.

One is having the Mercury Magnetics upgrade kit installed (or doing it yourself if you can handle a pretty big electronics project). That's not cheap but it offers a noticeable improvement to the amps tone. Once the price of the Tiny Terror and the kit and labor are added, you'll find it's not too far off from a TT Hard Wired amp, which is in itself a nicer sounding and better quality amp. So there are the two options that I'd suggest for improving the TT itself.

There's nothing wrong with cosmetic improvements, espically if you have the skills to do it yourself. Don't pretend that asthetics arn't a key issue for most players, otherwise we'd all be playing unfinished hunks of tonewood with no frills.

Search a guy made Orange cabs for them, they looked really good.

I wouldn't really call a tele an "unfinished hunk"...

Yeah theres 2 guys who have made wooden boxs for them, they look nice and one of them still sells them, find his name buy searching something related like tiny terror enclosure or something else. you'll find it easy enough.

Those look 50 times better in those headboxes. Orange should just manufacture them and sell them to us.

I would imagine that it contributes to the overall cost. They probably have a certain price range they want these models to stay in, and any extra frills would drive it up.

I completely agree though, it does look a million times better.

Well, they could just sell them separately as an upgrade if you wanted to buy one. I don't see why they wouldn't other than possible heat issues due the design of the Tiny Terror. Total cost for them wouldn't be hardly anything and they could probably get $150 or more for them really easily.

Yeah sorry i didn't have a proper look since i first posted this, i've seen the work done by the two guys that are doing it, but unfortunately i'm in the UK, so it'd be really pricey to send it over.

I'm not wanting the amp modded or anything, i just don't really like the look of the TT when it can be housed really nicely in a enclosure...

Agreed. The TT looks 1,000,000 times better in the headcase. It has actually always been one of my deterrents from buying one. The toaster style it ships in makes it look tiny and toyish. Sound fantastic, but I would feel stupid putting a stock TT on anything but a single 1x12 cabinet. And that just won't do for gigging...
