One of the comments suggests that Dweez wasn't happy with the highest bid, and decided to keep it instead. Sounds like a fitting end to that story haha

I would have given him five Moon Units for it.

Far as I can remember it didn't sell. Not at the time anyway...

Wouldn't be surprised if he still has it. Probably would have been worth more if he hadn't repaired it now that 'distressed' guitars are all the rage.

Haha. Yeah, funny that. I'm a little bit jealous of Dweezil, all the cool gear he would have inherited... :| sigh

Cool guitar, but all that's really left of the original guitar is the body, I believe. I'm pretty sure he didn't use the neck but commissioned Fender to create a masterbuilt neck with reverse headstock.

Now if he had put the original neck on it, he might have made his reserve! Oh, and thrown in that Orange....

I believe I read somewhere recently that he still has ownership of the guitar. But seriously, I know it is a piece of history (if in fact it is "the" guitar that Hendrix burned) but, when you consider that only 10% of the guitar is the actual guitar that was set on fire, and the rest is rebuilt to be playable, to me, it really decreases the actual value. I would rather own the charred remains of the iconic axe, in a state that was unplayable as it would be made into a piece of art as a tribute to the man.

I'm sad I noticed it...
