Hello, everyone ... again.
Hi, ladies and gentlemen,
Don't know if you guys remember me. I went by "Joshlespaul1952" back when I was a member a year or so ago, and I was the kid obsessed with Two Rocks. If that's not enough, I guess you just don't remember me, which is why I'm going to introduce myself ... again, if you will:
Hi, my name's Josh, as you probably deduced. I play a MIA Strat with Lollar Blondes through a 1963 Fender Tremolux into a Marshall 1960A with greenbacks. Probably going to pick up a RV50 or a 100 soon. Depends on the clean channel; I've forgotten what they sound like, to be honest. It'll probably take a while, seeing as I'm getting my car soon (either a BMW M3 or a Porsche Boxster; I haven't decided yet), and I'll be paying for insurance. Yikes. I'm getting a trio going soon. We're going for a Sonics meets Black Keys sound, so it should be fun.
So, what's new with you guys? I see that your kids have gotten much older, Neil! Still making amps?

Haha, I NORMALLY play a strat, I should have said That's my old SG Special Faded with '57s. It's kind of morphed into a semi-glossy finish now, which is kinda cool.indianDYsummer wrote:Welcome (back)! That's the nicest looking strat I've ever seen
I don't believe you were a member back when I was, ergo ... nice to "meet" you!

Welcome back.
My recommendation is neither the BMW or the Porsche -- get an affordable hatchback with low miles that can hold gear, and spend the balance on more gear to fill it with!

Haha, good suggestion! I've still got lots of deliberation, I'm sure.nguideau wrote:Welcome back.

Thanks, everybody! Is BrianUK still around (I think that was his username)? Norrin Radd/Greg? Trying to get my bearings ...

If you don't like the clean channel on the RV's, you should quit guitar and buy a faster car.

Said nothing about disliking them; I said I don't remember what they sound like (in person - YouTube videos can only do so much).Jondog wrote:If you don't like the clean channel on the RV's, you should quit guitar and buy a faster car.

Well, they don't sound like a '63 Tremolux ! That's a freaking nice amp, and I'm not much of a Fender guy . Are you planning to run the new amp alongside the Fender?JoshSchroll wrote:Said nothing about disliking them; I said I don't remember what they sound like (in person - YouTube videos can only do so much).Jondog wrote:If you don't like the clean channel on the RV's, you should quit guitar and buy a faster car.

Re: Hello, everyone ... again.
Thanks! It's seen its fair share of gigs, but its circuit is unadulterated and very clean. Including the new capacitors I had put in, the amp only cost around $1,200. And I'm not expecting cleans on par with it, but if I remember correctly, both the 100 and the 50 had pretty nice clean channels, especially for amps that are primarily designed for rock!Randy Bass wrote:Well, they don't sound like a '63 Tremolux ! Yeah, I'm going to try and run the Tremolux and the RV together, the Tremolux set right at the point of break-up and the RV set for a distorted tone. I'm going for The Black Keys sound, so I think that'll do rather nicely.
