That doesn't necessarily sound like a warranty issue, but Orange would have to sort that out for sure assuming that the amp is still in the warranty period and that you bought it new. You would probably do best to phone Orange UK to describe the problem and see what they suggest. Even if you have to pay for the repairs, it still might be worth having Orange do the repairs if you are anywhere close to HQ. Otherwise, a tech should be able to manage replacing a pot as long as they can work with PCBs (which a decent tech could).

yeah thats what I was thinking, its such a lovely amp that it really is worth getting orange to do the repairs, but its just the hefty courier fee thats all. Anyone know any techs in the southwest? I live in falmouth X

A pot replacement is a 15 minute job for any tech who's not a moron assuming the pots are easy to get to. Sending it to Orange should be your last resort.

According to the website there is an Orange dealer in Falmouth, that would be my first stop.

Zac

I'd ask around local musos or music shops and find out who they get to tech for them.

It's really NOT worth sending back to Orange because a broken pot is something that anyone who can use a soldering iron should be able to fix. Get it done locally, and don't get stung by a steep tech charge. Tell them what the problem is, that it's just a straightforward pot swap, but you'd simply prefer a pro to do it. It shouldn't cost much. Just a handful of quid for parts and some for 15 mins labour. The majority of that time is getting stuff ready and waiting for the soldering iron to heat up!

Assuming its a pot on your rockerverb, it's going to be longer than 15 minutes. They are all pcb mounted, so each pot will need to be removed from the faceplate and the board removed to swap the pot.

Good ol PCB mounted pots... yeah it'll take a while then. Really lame they would choose to make the amp this way. Most are these days I guess.

I was going to say the neurologist...

PCB mounted pots turn a 15 minute job into a 20 minute job. No big deal.

Depends on the amp really. Some older Ampegs w/ PCB mounted pots are insanely hard to work on. It took me an hour just to clean the pots on a V4 due to the funky positioning and wiring. Way to go Ampeg... The Orange Rockerverb may be a better layout. Only Orange I had was a Custom Shop and the pots were hand wired. That amp had the cleanest guts I've ever seen. A tech's dream.

Yeah, it's not a biggie.

Take the dials off, unscrew the nut, and then the faceplate slips off. Beyond that, getting a pot off a PCB is really not an issue. It won't be on the PCB proper.

Should check out the guts of the turret-board designed amps. Easiest amps to service i've ever seen.

thanks dudes.
I have been playing through my amp today. The treble (still broken) is on the clean channel, seem sto have resulted in the clean channel barely working at all.

Any ideas as to why?

dirty channel working perfectly.
