Hey everyone,

Cabz & speakerz seem to be quite a popular topic, so what's your set up? I prefer greenbacks...I think <img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle>

I like to build my own cabinets. I have found Eminence speakers to work great. Currently, with my AD140TC, I use a stock Orange 4x12 combined with a home made solid pine (not plywood) 4x12 cab of the same shape and dimension as the Orange. It is loaded with Eminence M12's and has a gunny sack material grille. The cab is not covered, but is stained and varnished orange to somewhat match the Orange cab. They seem to compliment each other nicely. Look sweet too. Draws a lot of attention. The Eminence drivers are also considerably less expensive.

Vintage 30's- I have two old Orange cabs- one I reloaded with V30's the other has the stock Emminence. V30's sound better IMHO but in actuality, there's not that much difference in sound. The V30's are a little louder though...

Vintage 30's are just one big scam imo. They're not vintage and they're not 30 watts <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>
They sound not too bad though, a bit too bassy maybe. Never heard eminences, are they loaded in some kind of 'factory' cab, to try?

What else is there???

My back is still green...

Vintage means they are made the same way as the originals, not the age.
The 30 has nothing to do with the watts, it's part of the name.

Vintage 30's were never marketed as a 'real' vintage speaker. They're a modern, modelled version of a vintage sounding speaker specifically a 30 watt Celestion, but with the capability to handle massive amounts of wattage.

Emminence speakers were loaded in empty Orange cabs that were sent here in the 70's. It was cheaper and lighter to send them unloaded and then load them here with American Emminence speakers. They're an acceptable speaker- just less loud and a little less definition IMHO.

I personally love the Vintage 30's- I think they sound incredible and I have A/B'd V30's with Emminence and original greenbacks and to my ears and the recordings that I did, the V30's sounded the best for what I want to hear as a guitar sound.

I use
-2x12Orange with Celestion Vintage 30 for my Overdrivesound
-the MusicMan 2x12 with some JBLs with AluminiumDome for Cleansound
-Luxor(FenderCopy) 2x15 JBLs for real deep tuned sounds but only in combination with the V30's because the 15's are lacking high and mid frequenzys...''LOGICAL''

Why is an ORANGE, orange? If it would be Green it would be an apple....
