EMG 18V mod. Is it worth it?

Pretty simple really, is it worth doing? Ive heard it improves head room but how about my distorted tone?

Any one done it?

Will prob try anyhow just its bit awkward on my ibanez as it has a dedicated battery compartment and it means wirirng in there and back to the control cavity
