Hiwatt 1x10 Cabinet - Is this real?

Post by baytamusic » Wed Aug 25, 2010 6:45 pm

So I just won this Hiwatt 1x10 cabinet on eBay for $50. It's local so the guy is actually dropping it off at my house for free. He says it's made in China. Whatever, it's $50. I'm probably going to cut the baffle for a 12" if there is room. Anyways, I can't find a single mention of a Hiwatt 1x10 cabinet anywhere on the internet. I'm wondering if this isn't some copy. It looks like it has some printing on the jack cup so I guess that may give me some info. Either way, I don't really care since it was $50 but I'm just curious if anyone has ever seen one of these?

I have no idea if it's legit or not, but I just wanted to say thats a cool little cab. even with a good 10" it'd be nice, but it definitely looks like it'll have enough room for a 12", depending on the depth

Well, it's loaded already, that would be sweet if it had a Fane in it... But I'm guessing Hiwatt wouldn't be loading Fanes into Made in China 1x10 cabs. haha.

Keep it a 10, just put a good one in it. There's always a place for something a bit smaller and more portable, but if you whack a 12 in it, the weight will go up.

I'm not moving it. It's for recording only. I have much more stuff for live playing. haha!

Slighty off topic, but out of curiosity do you have any recordings of your stuff. You seem to have some good influences and have put a lot of work into your setup. I would be interested in hearing the results.

Really doubt it, but how cool would it be if it did have a Fane?
Great deal if it is real or not!

It's probably a bastard cab from one of the Hiwatt 20HD solid-state mini stacks, so they were not sold individually (in theory). I hate it when people break up mini-stacks :( . If it's like the newer M*rshalls, the speaker will be a no-name Chinese job.

Umm... cause Randy doesn't like people breaking up half stacks?

I don't think Randy meant to be uncool or anything. I planned on changing out the speaker anyways, as I'm fairly certain it's not going to be anything spectacular.

I've wanted to hear the celestion 10" greenback, but I'm sure it totally blows compared to a vintage 12" greenback type celestion. Are you going to need a speaker that handles ~50w?
