The R30 is tighter at the low end and a bit brighter than the OR50. The R30 is more versatile with its two channels and it seems to be louder than the OR50 for some reason too.

+1 and I own both at the moment
also the OR50 does the 70's fuzz gain really well, whereas the rocker tends to be bit more edgy or focused....both sound Orange though, and a bit similar it that regard.

Another way to describe it to, is that the OR50 is a lot smoother sounding than the 30....the attack is softer when you really nail down on the guitar strings.....it's cool though and really does old school really well, but the r30 does great old school tones too, it is not as modern sounding as the RV50 and 100...it is a lot more open...

I already own an R30 head , which I'm in love with - so much so , that I've become rather obsessed with trying all the other oranges to see if I like them as much !ironlung40 wrote:So, Slate,

The OR50 is the only one from the current/recent crop that I haven't tried yet

I've got both the R30 and OR50. I was in a shop that had an OR50 plugged up to a ppc4x12. I tried it and that was a mistake, financially speaking! I had to have one. I bought one the next week. they have great tone, and I was blown away by it. They are a bit different than most current production oranges though, so I'd try one first. You may not like it, but I doubt it.
I've also owned the RV100. It was an awesome amp as well, but I decided to go with an AD140 due to having 2 channels that could be dirty or clean. I may end up with a RV100 MKII anyway, for the effects loop, etc.
They're all such great amps that it is hard to settle on just one. I'll have to sell something before I buy anything else though.

They are all great in their own way. You have to find one you love and stick with it.
