Poorly named product...

Post by Le Chat Noir » Sun Jul 04, 2010 3:20 pm

Just saw a 'Fender Squier Standard P Bass Special', which on further investigation is definitely the actual model designation.

Come on guys, either it's 'Standard' or 'Special', surely? ;)

It is called the P Bass Special in the Standard Series section of the 2010 Fender catalog. I think they make the effort to include the word "Standard" in the name to differentiate it from the Affinity Series. The Special designation is apparently due to the addition of the J Bass pickup, painted headstock, and multi-ply pickguard. Personally, I don't really think it's that special :D .

If a model you create requires 6 names to differentiate it from the others you produce, perhaps you make too many models.

I think I'll wait for the Special Standard P Bass Custom Deluxe before I buy...

It sounds like in this case they should have followed good old Henry Fords theory "you can have any color you want, as long as it's black" I agree if you need a six word name for the model of the guitar then maybe they should tame thier number of models back a tad.
