Hey guys, I have an Orange AD200B running through the OBC410 and OBC115, and I'm having trouble getting my low end up. When I run my active jazz bass through it and boast the bass freq, and that seems to work well. Here is the problem, the bass I primarily use is a passive bass, so there is no way to boost up the low end. Any suggestions? I was thinking or getting a bass eq pedal, or a sansamp bass driver for when I'm using the passive bass.
It just seems strange I should need to go to that measure to shape my tone on a head like the AD200B.

Re: Orange AD200B help?
The preamp tubes and power tubes are all new and freshly biased.

Re: Orange AD200B help?
The amp flat should be with the bass knob at about 3 o'clock.
But still, I thought the AD200 would have plenty of low end... You aren't running it to it's limits volumewise I suppose?

I play bass.

It sounded about the same, it's a little bit clearer now, and the grit is more articulate if I run the gain a bit higher. I'm running Valve Art for the power section, and Penta Labs in the pre-amp. The tubes we acquired through a dealer I've worked with in the past who had given me several good sets in the past when I was playing guitar.how did the amp sound before the change of tubes? what brand of tubes was/is in there?
I was under the impression that the EQ was a passive system, and that a flat EQ was when all three knobs were full up, or am I mistaken in that? The amp flat should be with the bass knob at about 3 o'clock.
Re: Orange AD200B help?
Make sure your mid knob is half way up or more and your treble is no more than half way up. Then adjust your bass knob to taste. If you have any pedals in the path take them out to make sure you don't have one with a weak battery or bad switch cutting your lows.

Re: Orange AD200B help?
This was definitely a big help, I've noticed that as the new preamp tubes settle in that there is more depth creeping into my sound. My guess is in a week or two it will be right where I've been desiring it to be.bassdrop wrote:Make sure your mid knob is half way up or more and your treble is no more than half way up. Thanks a bunch guys, I'll post more info if anything changes.

FWI, flat eq on a AD200 is bass 3, mid 12, treble 9 o'clock. Was a thread about this a while ago.
I play bass.

Re: Orange AD200B help?
I'd recommend the Sans Amp anyways. It makes any amp sound better from what I've ever heard. Also, back when I played bass I never quite got the sound I was looking for from a Jazz Bass. A passive P-bass always sounds best to me.
