Can i run my AD30R without a rectifier valve???

Hey guys n gals,

The 5AR4 Rectifier tube in my AD30R has gone. can i run it without it or can i replace it with another type of valve?

GZ34 is the same thing, or you could buy one of those solid state jobs!

yeah thanks buddy, i knew it was the same thing but trying to get hold of a rectifier tube here is impossible. there is no other type of tube i can replace it with? (not rectifier tubes)

You can't replace it with some other kind of tube unfortunately.
I think they are diode tubes, while preamp and poweramp tubes are triodes/pentodes.
TAD has a solid state rectifier you can plug into a GZ34 socket so if you want to you can deal with this for once and for all, if you like how it sounds. Costs about 15 euros.

But I'd stick with the GZ34 if I were you...

fair enough. it's only just gone today and have a gig tomorrow. i might have to just order online. if not can i run it without the rectifier tube in????

The rectifier tube converts your AC mains into DC.

I guess if you didn't have a rectifier tube plugged in your amp would do absolutely nothing.

Just to confirm, your amp will not work without a rectifier.
