KT88's in a RV100
Anybody have an opinion on these vs 6L6 vs El34? I'm thinking about trying the kt's or the 6L's for more of a Fender type clean tone. Opinions on whatever brand and type would be appreciated mas mucho... It's time to retube the beast anyway. Thanks

How's things?
most fender amps use 6L6 type tubes
KT88's will have a fair bit more headroom than EL34's or 6L6's i think they output more than a hundred watts more like 120 (if there were four like in your amp). to be honest i've never altered from the EL34's in mine but if i were to change i'd prob try the 6L6's out and if your looking for fendery cleans that could bring you closer but really if you want fender cleans the best thing would be a fender amp. For example i have a JCM900 at home and it uses 6L6's and it sounds nothing like a fender amp in fact it sounds really weak on the clean channell no bottom end at all but i would think the orange would be different to that and most likely different to a fender.

Although, throwing in some 6L6 tubes in a RV100 isn't going to make the amp sound like a Fender. You might be amazed how little difference it will do.
It will sound like the same amp, but a little rounder, you could say "meatier", but kinder.

I have KT 88's in mine. I'm actually going to switch back to 6CA7EH's. I haven't noticed much change in the cleans ( I really don't use them much ) but it made the amp more bassier and compressed.
