Tell me about the Crush series.

I'm considering getting a little Crush series practice amp. Nothing major, but something to play around with. Anyone have one and dig/not dig it?

I have the Crush 30R and find it "different" from my tube Oranges. It is much better for cleaner sounds, and starts to sound pretty bad when you dial up the gain. It's not as fizzy or artificial-sounding as most solid-state practice amps from M*rshall or Line 6 are now, but it's still somehow less fun. I would use it for Jazz or Country, if I played Jazz or Country.

They're small, they're Orange, they're great for practice, the bigger ones will see you through a practice with a band, you probably wouldn't wanna gig one though, especially the micro crush

Probably no help at all, but i'm feeling a bit chipper tonight :D

I have the Crush30R, it's great for bedroom levels and nicely portable. I like it above other tranny practise amps and the reverb sounds pretty nice actually. It can go pretty loud mind you, loud enough to survive small jamsessions with a drummer though at that volume it doesn't sound as nice as tube-amp of course. It would be a damn good starters-amp if it had a speaker-output.

Thanks, guys! I just may do it. I've got enough pedals/effects/etc- I don't really want a modeling amp, and since I've totally revamped my setup with all Orange goodness, I just may get a little matching Crush 20 or so. It's the Orange bug, I tell you. When it bites you, you're kinda stuck for life.

Btw, I haven't had any experience with the new 'PiX' series of Crush amps that replaced it. I read it has digital effects, which is something I would try to avoid personally. The Crush30R has a decent spring-reverb and nice sounding overdrive, all the basics you really need from an amp in my opinion.

Has anyone tried the new PiX amps?

I used to have more Orange stuff. Now I just have a PPC412 (black), and a Micro Crush.
