Shhh.. don't let the secret out.

I don't think I've EVER heard a bad tone out of an Orange- bad players, maybe, but their tone was good. I love that in an amp- simple, easy to get, great-sounding amp.

But all of these artists are going to screw it up for us- I blame that guy Andy something, that wrote a column years ago in Guitar Player, for REALLY screwing it up. He wrote a piece called Ten Most Affordable Amps, and said that Oranges were a great amp and a bargain. Which they were until he wrote the stupid column! At the time, I had managed to find two older used 4X12's for $200 and $300 each- and found a warehouse in NJ with a dozen unsold heads, keyboard cabs, etc UNSOLD from the last year of Orange in 1978 when they shut down. Bought a brand-new in the box OR80 head for $350 with original Mullards.... yikes!

Every once in a while, you might find an Orange out there for a good price but all of these high-profile Orange sightings are gonna screw it up for us! Shhh.... Billy

Ok. Lets continue on this interesting thread:
Have you heard the band Hum? I have a record of theirs called something like blablabla... I would prefer to be an Astronaut or something, from the mid 90´s. Amazingly meaty, thick and BIG wall of rumbling distortions. And I heard Oranges had something to do with that. Check it out for the sound. Mmmm...
At the Drive in and Sparta also used/uses Orange and I´ve heard the Deftones had one as well.

And The Ike&Tina Turner Band and Stevie Wonders band in the seventies.
