Manchester Orchestra

Somebody told me to listen to this band ages ago and I didn't until today.

Jesus Christ what a band! Listen to I've Got Friends - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X66k0BL5faQ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Reminds me of Bends era Radiohead, but if they'd been heavier...and American ;)

When I first clicked this thread I was expecting classical music! ;) What a strange name to call an alt rock band!

Interesting. They're clearly musically adept and I can see where you got the Radiohead comparison from - their music has that layered, epic alt rock quality to it... but for me something is missing. It's like someone tried to sanitise an early Radiohead track by sucking all the darkness and awkwardness out, replacing it with a more mainstream, insistent emotional vagueness... sorry! The guy has that fragile emo-type voice that I don't really like personally. I can see why people would like it though, the tunes are pretty hooky! I can see them being commercially successful.

I clicked another video and I was TOTALLY not expecting the singer to look like this... was expecting a skinny guy with long hair!
