Vacation day and full stack!

Post by bclaire » Mon Dec 28, 2009 4:50 pm

So I've been playing nothing but my AD30TC combo for the past couple of years, and since I have them stacked up in my practice room, I thought I'd hook up my 1978 Orange OR80M and the two 4X12's and just give it a go....

.... wow! I had forgotten how powerful and insanely toneful this thing is. My God- such definition! After playing it for about an hour, I fired up the AD30TC and adjusted the controls until I got as close as I could to the sound of the OR80. Open back and EL84's considered, I got pretty close. I'd love to play the full stack out but my back thanks me for not doing so! Maybe an upcoming gig???

I'd like to play through a full stack :(

I've done so once a long time ago and it was like (to my young mind) lightning came down from the sky and shot out of the guitar.

They got balls... played one in Wunjos the other day, and it sounded lush. But my word, was it loud...

Love that gold leaf Tele...

Is that a Noel Gallagher Epi on the left side of the picture ?
I'd like to play one of those - do you like that guitar Billy ?

Why, yes it is! I love it... and it became a better guitar when I installed the Bigsby on it- don't know why...

and Neil- that Cool Cat is really cool and may be replacing the Marshall Drivemaster in my rack this vacation if I can figure it all out. Need to make sure the Cool Cat is a better-sounding pedal.

oh man I love the sound of an OR80 cranked!!!...but the other day while jammin away(w/ full stack) the thought occured to me "wow if it was only a tad bit louder i'd be a happy boy"...since the OT is the same as the OR120 (90's RI) i'm gonna turn her into a 120 watt beast. It should not cost me much in sockets/resistors/wire/ect...wish me luck

Good luck! It looks fairly easy as far as electronic mods go....

Just let ME run through the stack. Problem solved.
Hey Neil. Lovin the Cool cat. Use it for a volume boost for solos. A great $24 investment. Thanks again for the tip.
