Recommend me a stereo delay ;)
I've been messing around with ways of widening/fattening my sound even more (!) and was messing with my old beat up PodXT...
...now, don't get me wrong, I am distinctly underwhelmed by most of the sounds that come out of this box -please hear me out!
I bypassed all the amp models etc and used only the Stereo Delay function, set to 20ms of delay, 100% wet, 0% feedback (i.e. no repeats). Effectively, one channel is dry and the other sounds dry but is being shunted 20ms back so the sound arrives ever so slightly later! This gives quite a credible 'double tracked' feel when fed into two amplifiers.
Now, my real question is can someone recommend a delay pedal which will do this and save me having a PodXT on my board for this one purpose?? I'm finding it surprisingly hard to find a unit to suit my needs here! I don't need the myriad functions of most pro-grade delays, I just need this one simple function - and of course, the pedal has to be stereo and go down to 20ms, which not all of them do.
Any suggestions?

Re: Recommend me a stereo delay ;)
The Ibanez AD 9 has 2 outputs if you only need 300 ms and want to split your dry from wet signal.
I have a little experience with that one and I thought it sounds good... Very analog/dark but that's the point of that pedal I guess. There might be better options out there, don't know, but it should suit your sound more or less.
I was a little quick with replying but I was kind of impressed by the features of the Nova Delay, but that'll be overkill I guess .

Thanks for the suggestion - the TC Nova Delay would probably work, but it's stupidly expensive for me, over 200GBP! I was really hoping for a smaller, cheaper unit with a lot less functions, but catering for my specific needs!

Yeah, I remember the pricetag (which is the reason the GAS didn't won that particular time ).
I don't know what I was thinking, it would have been a perfect post if the topicstarter was called Neiloler I guess (haven't seen him around here for a while, bit weird).

I think one of the earlier/simpler Boss pedals like the DM-3 or DD-3 might be the one for me

a DM-3 is a permanent fixture on my pedalboard - I use it mono but have tried it stereo - it's pretty excellent!

I think a DM-3 would be great actually - but they're long discontinued and quite expensivekittenface wrote:a DM-3 is a permanent fixture on my pedalboard - I use it mono but have tried it stereo - it's pretty excellent!
The thing is, all I want is something the goes down to 20ms and which won't colour my tone too much - it'll be left on all the time so I don't care about true bypass, and I don't care about analogue vs digital delay because to all intents and purposes I won't actually be using the 'delay', only offsetting the dry signal!

I use a Boss DD-20 but I'm not sure that's what you are looking for. I don't think it goes down to 20ms of delay. I don't use it in stereo but the ability to switch between presets and not have to worry about crouching over to change settings is a benefit for me. I wish I could help more on the matter but Delay has never been my thing until a year or so ago.

Hey Teddy.....that is exactly what I use my Boss dd-6 for. The manual even calls the setting "Double Track". It is the only reason I own it.

Thanks for chipping in Andy! That's good to know Does it work well, does it affect your tone at all?neonrust wrote:Hey Teddy.....that is exactly what I use my Boss dd-6 for. The manual even calls the setting "Double Track". It is the only reason I own it.

Re: Recommend me a stereo delay ;)
Yup....it does work well. It can get a bit too thick at times if you are using a thick fuzz also. Unless you are only running the fuzz to one side. It will effect your tone the same as any other buffered Boss pedal.Le Chat Noir wrote:Thanks for chipping in Andy! Here is the manual for the DD-6. Under sample settings is "Doubling".....a good place to start. I usually just tweak the D-time from there.

Cheers again, I'll definitely look into picking one of these or the DD-7 up.

Re: Recommend me a stereo delay ;)
I hope one of the DD's works out for you Teddy. On the issue of buffered circuits, I can't tell a difference when using my DD-20 in the loop of my RV50 if there's any tone difference, clean or distorted. Afterall, I am hearing several repeats due to the delay and that was the point anyways.

Think I may even go for the DD-3 - it's got less options, but as I said, I only want it for this one specific function... and it seems the DD-3 will do it OK!
