I use a Rocker 30 and for the last three years since ive had it, have always used the Dirty channel for Crunch and a booster pedal for lead breaks, but recently since the other guitarist has got a new Marshall Ive struggled to get a lead sound with sufficient volume despite turning the booster up - I believe this is down to the compression of the sound when adding gain to an already overdriven channel.
Im now thinking of overdriving the clean channel with a pedal for Crunch and using the Dirty channel for lead breaks - Does anyone do this? My head tells me its a bit of a waste of the dirty channel which provides such good crunch.
Compression of sound- more volume needed for lead

try it and see for yourself - lots of players do that with great results

It is a bit of a waste of the Dirty channel......
I personally find the Dirty channel is better for crunch than for lead. I use a bunch of pedals to get the lead sounds I want on top of both channels.
As kittenface says 'try it and see for yourself'.

Search the forum. This topic pops up weekly. We have yet to find a definitive solution... sorry. I'm playing mainly on my RV50 halfstack and actually using the Rocker 30C as a boost.

Re: Compression of sound- more volume needed for lead
Set up your dirty channel for crunch with your guitar volume at 70%, then roll up for lead breaks... the other guy having more volume shouldn't be an issue live: that should be the soundman's problem.
If it's causing you trouble, tell him to face his amp in another direction.

Get your amp up high and tell your other guitarist to turn down. Sound guys will also appreciate this act of kindness/mercy
