ProCo "You Dirty Rat" pedal...

Just got handed one for free and all I can say is "wow!" This little thing is one mean SOB of a fuzz/distortion....just sings like mad....i'm so surprised and happy right now. I've been looking for a fuzz for a long time that sings like Jimi's did and this one fits the bill....very cheap too if you are going to have to pay for it. It is just a searing, howling tone, not really too much like the original rat. One thing....sounds better through my fender '59 bassman ltd by a MILE than through the RV50C, which in fairness needs no pedal for fat-ass distortion.

EDIT: I just found this review of the pedal by a guy who describes his first experience with it to be exactly the way I felt about it:

sounds vaguely like jack black. i'm not sure that it is, as sometimes it really doesn't sound like him, but that was the first name that popped into my head when i heard it for a couple minutes.

a friend of mine has a rat that he just got and he loves it.

He's not Jack Black. There's a video I saw someone post one time of some company or GearWire-esq group interviewing vintage guitar collectors/dealers and he was on it. Not Jack Black, but I'm sure it doesn't hurt his popularity.

Cool.... The Keeley modded Rat also sounds pretty darn' sweet. I get a big thick grunge sound with the neck humbucker.

I think gearmandude is JB's youtube channel...it must be him...the boots, the arm hair...the references to rock "gods", not to mention the fact that he deliberately never shows his face....must be a reason for it....
