If you're into obsessive compulsive behavior you'd love hanging out with me in my studio!
I just posted a new tune called The Incantation.
It's here http://www.myspace.com/joewgorman" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Record, sleep a couple hours get back up and keep recording. I wish I loved my day job as much

Nice work, Joe! Reminds me of The Cult "She Sells Sanctuary" at the top (which is a good thing), then the vocals kick in and I'm all like, "Black Sabbath, man..." Cool.
Did you record all the parts, or is it the whole band? Record instrument tracks separately over scratch tracks or did you play live? Sound quality and track separation is really nice, but still sounds "live" and tight.
Which of your guitars/amps did you use?

Hey
I did a scratch guitar track with the drummer. Then I went and laid down the guitar tracks, the bass track, the vocal tracks, the guitar "leads" and tamborine and vibraslap. Then I canned the guitar leads and recorded new ones, canned the vocals, recorded new ones, added new guitar parts and then began mixing and mastering.....
I'm a sick puppy... One of my friends suggested a sitar! i'm glad she didn't make that suggestion at 3 am this morning. It wouldn't be pretty to have me attempt to acquire a sitar in rural Iowa at 3 am..
Thanks brother, I have heard twice about the Cult. And I liked them when they were hot but I haven't paid attention to them lately and here I am ripping them off!?. Maybe it's delayed programming? the Sabbbath stuff i cop to. I love some of Iommi's layering.

Can't listen to your recording at work, but will when I get home.
A good idea is one that is good both at 2 am and 10 am.
Where would you find a sitar in Iowa?
I look forward to hearing your stuff.

Excellent question Bob! I really have no idea where I might acquire a sitar....
I hear you about the good idea is good at 2am and at 10 am. I've had a lot of bad ideas before

Hmmmm....
Joe - of all your stuff I've listened to - I actually like this song the best. Very nice! You may love Iommi, but I definitely hear some Page in there too. I really dig how it pauses and comes back in at 3:03 - works perfectly with the hypnotic nature of the song/riff. I completely agree on the sitar action too - go find one. Now!

+1 to liking this the best. And yeah, I kept thinking "Rondo" while listening as the major theme would return.Norrin Radd wrote:Hmmmm....

A Rondo is a form of classical music in which a major musical theme is repeated/ returned to throughout a piece. Often, everything that happens between the repeated theme is unique. Greg's comment about the hypnotic nature of your new tune reminded me of the effect a Rondo can have.pages plexitone wrote:Thanks for the replies guys!!!

Ah! That's pretty cool...
Good to know, I really need to understand the mathematics of music more. I'm somewhere between CC Deville and Nigel Tufnel...

Finally got a chance to hear it. Myspace is blocked at work.
Cool song, great execution. I think I know where a sitar would have fit right in.
