PEDALS.

Post by Ollie_Jacques » Tue Nov 03, 2009 12:29 pm

I have an Orange AD30 single channel and love the tone of the Guitar going straight into the amp, but how will the AD30 deal with some of the pedals below.
I use a fair amount of gain on my amp settings and have no effects loop so im thinking this is going to f**k with the Delay.

Wah
Vibe
Delay
Reverb
Fuzz
Buffer

After playing with just one amp setting and useing the guitars volume to get clean and dirty sounds i would like to have some options, but im scared that some pedals will suck my tone, help me.

Depends on the brand/type of those pedals..

I don't use the effects loop on my RV50 and I run guitar > korg pitchblack > vox wah > boss dd-20 > boss OD-3 > fuzz factory > amp.

I admit, the wah sucks some tone, but thats about it.. I barely use the wah though so it doesn't concern me.

As per the above.

The 30 doesn't take so kindly to fuzzes unless you have it on a clean setting, but overdrives & distortions it should be fine with. Can't tell whether a pedal will suck tone or not unless you plug it in. Some pedals suck tone, others don't. It's not dependent on type, but usually on the pedal itself...

Stick your delay at the end of the chain. Should be fine there.

I have:

>wireless>cry baby (wah)>creamtone (overdrive)>carbon copy (delay)>boss chorus>tuner > AD30R

All works fine to my ears... :D

Thanks for the advice guys, so would you say there is no need for a buffer at the start or end of the chain. Because im thinking of getting some true bypass pedals ?

I have a few pedals and get no tone suck...
Look into pedals and if they're true bypass then when they're not being used they shouldn't effect your tone what so ever!

As for whilst they're being used... You should be able to find info on that too.

I'd only look for a buffer pedal if you start to notice significant signal dropoff.
