OT: Absolute favourite band?
Moderator: bclaire
I have to say my biggest influences totally are theese: (funny noone mentioned either one..) 1. Mötley crüe, Red hot chilipeppers, bad religion.. I don't play like any of them or even their "kind" of music..
what i can't stand (at all) are dorky dudes like bono+u2 and moz.
No disrespect to all you guys who love them, i'm just saying that i really don't. cheers!

It's interesting that you don't play the same "kind" of music as your favorite bands. I can definitely hear my influences come through my music. Though I love Django Reinhardt and certainly don't play anything like him.
Bands like Puddle of Mudd say they are influenced by Led Zeppelin, though I don't hear it in their play.
Hey Macahan Chilli Peppers are a band I really rate musically and you're right its odd that no-one else has mentioned them.
A real variety and ability there.
As for Jeff Beck, I don't know much about his music really. I know he played with the Yardbirds, who I love and think are underrated/almost forgotten, and played with Rod Stewart. But what's THE Jeff Beck album to get out of all of them?

Personally, I think "You Had it Coming" is his best. Not the latest self titled one, but the one before that. It has great songs, lots of variety and some truly moving and amazing guitar work.
