A fan of J and you aren't looking into Marshalls? .
I've played a P90 equipped SG into my OR-80, but I don't own an AD30. Still, all Oranges are voiced fairly dark and midrangy with a prickly texture to the upper register. P90's make for a real nice midrangy bark with tight low end. They're nice and punchy, without icepicky highs. The top is pretty smooth. I'm a fan of P90's through Oranges.

<br />hey five! Yeah I know! I should be plugging in Tele's and Jazzmasters into some Plexis!! lol, Love J. to death but dont play the same style as him. I actually fell in love with P90's and Mini-hums listening to Neil Young (Mascis' idol by the way!)

Oh hell yeah man -- I just watched Year of the Horse about Neil Young and Crazy Horse earlier today on IFC and it was awesome. That's the first time I realized Young's LPs had p90s too. Speaking of him -- there was an Orange setup behind him at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction a few months back (although I think we determined it wasn't actually his).
In any case I've been on a reall Neil Young kick lately and have been playing Down by the River and Cowgirl in the Sand all morning so maybe something with p90s is in my future!LOL

I'd recommend anything with single coils going into an AD30, especially a good Tele (or Tele-style model such as a G&L ASAT, or Gordon Smith T-type guitar). I'm wary about running humbuckers through an AD30, as it sounds too thick for my finer preference, and a bit crowded when you hit chords. Great for lead lines, but I can get that sound with my Tele though, so don't really need humbuckers right now.

One of my guitars is a dean evo 60 w/ p90's -in the bridge position I've got a "stacked p90" & in the neck position a "custom p90" both are made by seymour duncan. I play through a rockerverb 50 and that is one of my favorite sounding guitars. I think p90's would sound great with any orange setup.
Tim (drum817) "does this mean were not doing stonehenge tommorow night???"
I have a p-90 (Seymour duncan phat cat retro fit) in the neck of my ES 335 and it sounds great through my ad30tc head. Humbuckers are also alot more utilitarian with an orange IMHO. In fenders and, to a lesser extent, Vox's, you virtually can't use humbuckers clean. Due to the darker voicing of the Orange you can do so. Either way...great amp.

I occasionally play my Les Paul Deluxe through my Orange AD15. I mean ya, sounds good...I'm just not much of a min hum kinda guy...maybe one day Ill embrace it.

For the guys out there who've played both... what are the main tonal differences between mini humbuckers and full humbuckers? I've only had a go on a mini once, and it wasn't the best guitar, so wasn't really a good benchmark.

I use a p-90 equipped les paul special deluxe into my ad-140 and vox ac-30. I think it sounds better into the vox because I think low powered pickups sound better through low-powered amps, so I'd say a p-90 equipped guitar would sound great through the ad-30. Certainly ain't no slouch into the 140, though.

Minis are a lot different than full sized hums. Minis only have a lil more output than single coils but arent as percussive. Basically Id describe a LP Deluxe as one part Telecaster one part LP Standard in sound at least. My Deluxe is also heavy as a tree, and has a log for a neck...its pleasent really .

Tried out the Rocker 30 with my LP Special, and thought it was a great combination. On the occasions I've put that guitar through my 120 Overdrive it also seriously rocked.
I think P.90s sound great for all sorts of sounds. They are great for clean, but really come into their own with the sort of moderate overdrive you'd get from an AD30.
Way to go!
Andy.
