WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?
Orange Rockeverb MKII Head

WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?
I have a Big Muff Tone Wicker

REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE:
Works very well with Whammy and with middle boosting I have no problem with volume loss.
It has a massive sound when you play it very loud.
For my last album I have used it with clean channel with volume at h12, cutting bass and high, boosting middles.
Here a sample https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntHvLQn2-hM

PEDALS YOU RECOMMEND STAYING CLEAR OF:
I did not like the fulltone octafuzz, you lose a lot of clarity and have a huge volume loss. Also tube screamer (I had a '80 Japan) sounds very "plastic"

WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?
CR120H through a British style cab.

WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?
Boss SD1 and a DIY Dead Astronaut XFUZZ.

REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE:
SD1 balances the upper mids with the more prominent lower mids. And tightens the lows. Gives the amp a tone reminiscent of a Boogie crossed with a 5150. XFUZZ I don't use much. But is good for lower gain fuzz. It's a noisy circuit.

PEDALS YOU RECOMMEND STAYING CLEAR OF:
MXR prime. Fine pedal on its own. Doesn't sound bad, but will not meet unity gain with the CR. Only useful if you don't need cleans.
My cat loves the Orange tone!

WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?

A Rocker 15 and a Crush 35 RT.

WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?

I do not use an overdrive. So far, I have been using an Electro-Harmonix Screaming Bird (only with the Rocker 15). I t works fine with the addition of some treble however, it is a sound that is very unique and might not satisfy most users. To me, it is very much a Brian May type of sound when the pedal is engaged. It should be tried before one buys this pedal however, it isn't an expensive unit. I use the SB on the drive channel with the gain around 2 O'clock.

REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE:

I would like a presence edge to the tone. The SB doesn't achieve it. I'd like to try a Demeter Presence pedal through the effect loop.

PEDALS YOU RECOMMEND STAYING CLEAR OF:

I'm mostly a plug in straight into the amp type therefore, I do not use many pedals.

WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?
TH30 head with PPC112 cabinet loaded with Celestion V30

WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?
1983 Boss OD-1

REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE:
First of all - my setings:
OD-1 settings: level to unity gain, overdrive at 8:30
AMP settings on DIRTY channel: Volume to the taste, shape at 10:30, gain on 1:00
AMP settings on CLEAN channel: Volume to the taste, treble on 2:00, bass od 10:00.
Pickups: EMG 81/85

I use OD-1 as an always-on unit - it takes off that fizz on dirty channel, tightens up hi-gain tone, adds nice grit on cleans and gives that lovely mid-hump. In general OD-1 helps a lot with cutting through the mix.

PEDALS YOU RECOMMEND STAYING CLEAR OF:
MXR Distortion+, Boss DS-2.

I have a Thunderverb 50. This amp has plenty of gain on its own but I use a Boss SD-1 or MXR ZW OD as a treble boost to brighten my tone since the amp is darker than I like and can not be dialed out. Pedal settings are: volume max'd, gain off, tone max'd. Now the amp sounds really good!

WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?
Dual Terror with Orange PPC212OB

WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?
TS9
SD1
Walrus Mayflower
J Rockett Archer

REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE:
All 4 of those pedals above work well as a clean boost. I don't ever use a high amount of gain so I get buy with one of the drives above and a clean boost. All 4 of these also tighten up the bottom end and introduce a bit of a mid punch that helps me cut through in all situations. Currently liking the Archer the best.

PEDALS YOU RECOMMEND STAYING CLEAR OF:
I recently tried the Earthquaker Devices Palisades and it was not a good fit for my amp. With all it's knobs and switches I could not dial in a pleasant sound. I could see it working for a high headroom, crystal clean amp.
The ZVEX Super Duper 2 in 1 has soooo much treble. Just ice pick in my ears! Yikes!
An old Pro Co Rat from the early 90's. LM308 chip and all. Way too much fizzy, noisy gain.

* WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?
Orange Rocker 15 Combo

* WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?
J.Rockett Archer Ikon. Best OD pedal for me. Works great on my Marshall amp too.

Budget pick would be Electro-Harmonix Soul Food. It worked fine and is a great starter OD.

* REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE:
The Ikon helps make my Orange amp (any amp) sound so much sweeter. The mids really sound great.

* PEDALS YOU RECOMMEND STAYING CLEAR OF:
JMI (now BPC) Zonk Machine. I could not get this pedal to sound good with either my Orange or Marshall. Just noisy. Glad my friend owns it and not me.

Lately I've been using the Joyo Ironman Metalhead with my Micro Terror.

It's not only tiny like the amp, but it sounds really good because it has a mids knob and a highs knob. It has more than enough bass, and you can adjust that with the tone knob on the amp. It's really easy to scoop the mids. I tried it with several different cabs, sounds great with all of them.

WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?
TH30, MKIII

WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?
BUDGET OPTION: EH SoulFood and EH Glove

CURRENT FAVOURITE: Orange Two Stroke in the loop!

REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE: Orange amps are picky about what you use and where, not many pedals I've used compliment the sound, but EH pedals always do, and all Orange I've tried sound incredible with an EQ in the loop.

Hi everyone; new membre here.

WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?
Tiny Terror HW with PPC410 cab
Rocker 15

WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?
Tiny Terror HW : I find the TT dont likes pedals. The only effects that I like in front of my Tiny Terror are boosts and clean digital delays. I use Solidgold fx Nitro boost and I also used Boss FB-2 Booster/Feedbacker with great results.
The clean channel of the Rocker 15 is way better with pedals. So I like the Boss SD-1 and some fuzz in front of it (Solidgold fx If 6 was 9 (fuzzface clone), MXR Blue Box and JHS Little foot fuzz).

REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE:
I dont need more drive for either the TT or the Rocker 15, so boosts are only needed for solos. Like I said, I dont think drive/distortion/fuzz sound great through the TT. Since I really like fuzz, especially a good fuzz face, I use them in the clean channel of my Rocker 15.

PEDALS YOU RECOMMEND STAYING CLEAR OF:
Tube screamer are only good with Fender amps.
I also never liked a single distortion pedal in a tube amp. I find them only good in a clean solidstate amp.
Boss MT-2 : never heard somebody having a great tone out of a Metal Zone
Jazzmaster '58, Jazzmaster '62, Stratocaster '56, Telecaster Pro, Gibson es-175 '59, Gibson Flying V Japan edition, Epihone Elistist Casino.
1967 Vibro-Champ, Tiny Terror HW, AD30HTC
... and a bunch of fuzz

Figured I would update as I found something I like very much.

WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?
CR120H through a British style 2x12 cab.

WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?
TC Electronics Spark Booster (4 knob) and a Boss SD-1 in front for solo boost. Home built "underdrive" for low gain. Still boosting at low gain
Boss M-T2 Metalzone. (but I sold it) :P

REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE:
The Spark gives a really nice kick in the pants to both the clean and dirt channel. Using the mid boost mode, it gives a mellow bump to the mids, like a mild tubescreamer, while retaining the amps voice. A little bump on the treble and a little cut on the bass gives a nice tight tone that doesn't kill the Orange flavor.
The SD-1 is used like a standard tube screamer, but as I like the Spark more, I kick on the SD-1 for a solo boost into the spark. With my current settings, it gives a very prominent mid and treble boost that really cuts through, even if the amp was fully saturated to the point of no extra volume left (gain is almost always at 1-2 o'clock at most, then boosted).
The "Underdrive" is just a passive volume knob I put in an enclosure with an led. For a different flavor of low gain that is different from the clean channel.
And yes. I am serious about the metal zone. A simple mod to remove the pre and post gain gyrator circuits (eliminates most of the nasal tone) and its a freaking beast on the clean channel cranked to dirt. This pedal usually sounds best straight into a clean power amp or cab sim, using it as a preamp, but the Crush Pro clean channel loves it, and it makes a great dirty boost on the dirt channel.

PEDALS YOU RECOMMEND STAYING CLEAR OF:
EHX Crayon. Sounded trebley on the CR. Volume didn't boost much unless the gain was up, gain took the volume from a little over unity to instantly so much boost that the preamp overloads and clips the input, within only a hair of a turn. Gain also didn't really kick in until 9 o'clock. Slightly under was the same as no gain. Pedal did not fine tune at all. Volume didn't do much when gain was added. Volume almost off, and then it worked as a boost that was solid state friendly. Just don't bump it!

WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?
Orange Rockerverb MKIII Head and PPC412 Angled.

WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?
EHX NYC Big Muff Pi '13.

REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE:
I've had the pedal for a while and didn't really like it as much as other incarnations of the Pi but I found that nearly or completely diming the volume knob and finding the sweet spot between the Volume and Tone (somewhere between 11:30 and 12:30) controls allowed for a killer sound at multiple positions on the Sustain knob usually anywhere from 2 O'clock to max. It wound up giving a very warm (which I mostly attribute to the natural Orange mids) yet articulate, fluffy, chunky tone that could get usefully spiky and also unusable spiky if the tone was pushed too far. There were some nice classic yet subtle spitty artifacts on single note riffs which is something I like more of but was happy to hear the balance between that and the thickness of the gain. The tone was much more colorful and sweet than I had been used to getting from that Muff. I do really like the same Muff on bass as well even though it does cramp much of the natural sub-bass frequencies of the instrument. Its still a very killer and colorful fuzz in that situation. Ran this into the clean channel only. Bass about noon and treble between 3 to 5 O'Clock.

PEDALS YOU RECOMMEND STAYING CLEAR OF:
Its hard to say. I don't think I've used anything that I find totally abhorrent so far. I did have a second-hand Wren & Cuff Caprid a few years ago and I felt like it was grossly below the expectations I had based on demos. Sold it off.
Orange Rockerverb 100 MKIII [2017]
Orange PPC412-A [2017]
Orange PPC412 [2017]
Gibson SG Standard Silverburst [2007]
Gibson SG Standard Heritage Cherry [2016]
More than a dozen drive/Fuzz boxes.

WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?

Orange OR 50

WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?

KHDK Ghoul Screamer and an Orange Bax Bangeetar

REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE:

I use the Ghoul Screamer to tighten my dirt tone and give it a little bit more gain and with the Bax I stack that with the Ghoul Screamer for added dirt/ lead channel. Sounds like a Rockerverb with a Dual Dark tone!!!

PEDALS YOU RECOMMEND STAYING CLEAR OF:

Any fuzzes... especially muffs :(.... I love fuzzes but nothing worked for me with my Or50

Dunno if I ever did this....

WHICH ORANGE AMP DO YOU USE?
Orange AD30TC combos.

WHICH OVERDRIVE PEDALS WORK BEST FOR YOU?

XOTIC EP BOOST | TC NOVA DRIVE | VOODOOLAB PROCTAVIA

REASONS FOR YOUR CHOICE:
I rarely use the EP Boost but it's really nice for a Strat through the AD30TC.

The Nova Drive can be controlled by my TC G-System so that makes it easy. I rarely use this either but it's always available and mounted in my rack.

The Proctavia works like all Octavia type pedals. Best with a neck pickup, adds that little over-the-top fuzziness. Again rarely used, but mounted in my rack.
