I do that especially with building guitars from raw wood. I love building things, but wiring is so much easier, as you don't have to show off your not-so-aesthetically-pleasing-but-100%-functionally-sound wiring jobs when you're done with a pedal or amp.

Could you please post a blueprint of the guitar or a download link if it's in PDF format? I'm planning to build a similar guitar but I need a blueprint of the actual Fireman for a reference and I can't find it anywhere on the net. I would really appriciate it.

here's my homemade one. not near as good as yours, mine is all hand done, hence many flaws. it's hand drawn on a slab of oak, and cut out on a band saw. i used a mortising jig for all the holes, and used an old crappy guitar's parts from it. over all it's not horrible, exept i need a new neck because it's truss rod is broken inside. the solid oak body give it so much sustain, and tone. if i dropped a halfway decent pickup in it it would scream. and me playing it.
