Strat or Tele :)
Not sure what guitar I should start saving up for first.
I love Hendrix/SRV/Radiohead/Gary Moore/Snow Patrol/KOL
I also love Gilbert/Vai/Muse/Racer X but I have my RG550 and PGM301 for those tones.
I'd be running them through my Orange Rockerverb 50
Here is the tele I'd get, a 1952 vintage telecaster
The strat. MIA 3 toneburst maple neck

Strat.
But I'm biased I just simply hate the nasal twang of the tele bridge pick ups.

How about a thinline tele? Its less twangy than a tele, but still sounds like a telecaster.

How's that for a start to your poll?
At the end of the day, what you have to do is try a few of each. See which one you prefer.
All we, forumites, are going to do is tell you which one we prefer.
This said, tele bridges are really nasaly twangy.

Play lots and wait for one sexy guitar to wisper sweet nothings in your ear, then pay the man and take that very one home. Nothing else matters!
Here we go; three, four...
Re: Strat or Tele :)
I have this same exact guitar and I can say that its the greatest guitar I've ever owned. I had a Fender Strat and sold it for the thinline. Best decision I ever made. Amazing tone, great playability (neck is soo smooth), and just looks stellar. I encourage everyone to buy the 69' Tele Thinline!danbond wrote:How about a thinline tele? Re: Strat or Tele :)
I think the strat is the way to go for comfort and playability, Its designed to fit you where as the tele is a plank of wood! albeit with great tones and that indestructable factor! i dont think my tele has ever gone out of tune by itself its a tank of a guitar. i just find strats more versatile.
reconsidering here......i think you should get both!! get a high end fender version of which guitar you like best and get a squier classic vibe version of the other dilemma sorted lol!

Re: Strat or Tele :)
At this point in time, if I was looking for a guitar and had to decide between Strat and Tele, it would be Tele... but not the '52. I'd get one of the Roadworn 50's Teles since I think they play better than the '52.

Re: Strat or Tele :)
Play some and decide which you'd prefer. Best way... I ended up with both, so it might be worth doing that in the long run.
Generally i'd advise against ANY Thinline Tele. I've just never played a good one or one I liked... just goes to show...

Re: Strat or Tele :)
I like teles better. They can get more agressive sounding with the bridge pickup. People think they're just about twang, I lol at those people. And the neck pup on a tele, satisfies my stratocaster neck pick-up tone. That again is just IMO
