Cab Wiring Help

Post by iwantanorangeamp » Mon Aug 17, 2009 7:56 pm

My Dad and I are building a couple of 2x12s before I start college again this fall.

Got my supplies at Mojotone and they sell the same switches that Marshall uses to wire their stereo cabs. However, I completely forgot to order em, so now I have all the other supplies for the cabs but no switches. :x

I'd like to go to Radio Shack and buy some DPDT switches but I'm worried about getting switches that'll sound bad or fail. Would I be safe tone-wise, and output transformer-wise if I just got any switch rated for 15 Amps at 120 VAC?

cheers, Reo
HI, my real name is Reo. I live in Dallas Texas and play an 82 American Strat through an AD30HTC through a Marshall 4X12

Order from Mojo and have them 2nd day aired in....it's cheaper than overnight and you'll get the switches you want.

Radio Shack sells fine switches, but they're just a bit cheapy. Honestly, I'd bet money they'd work just fine for you, but do as the Bones says and get what you really want.

Tone wise, I don't think you'll hear any difference.
