I saw that just recently and I would love to try one out. It is birch and it is all pressed together and I bet it would sound interesting. The colors are kind of another story. I think the least ugly is black and white and the black and natural.

My mom has some salt and pepper shakers that are made the same way. Trippy.

I used to have more Orange stuff. Now I just have a PPC412 (black), and a Micro Crush.

Yeah saw the black and white and that one would be the choice if I was forced to buy one.... :D

Wow. I just picked up a new Martin OM-1, the neck is made of a birch laminate... I can't personally tell a tonal difference from a mahogany neck, and the stuff is probably more stable too. The whole body though... I dunno. The rainbow colored one looks like Clapton's Fool SG vomited on it.

Well, we know what Gibson's R and D department has been doing lately huh...

Actually I just saw that these things have the 500T pickups. That's probably one of Gibson's only pickups I want to try.

the rainbow one looks like one of those lolli pops you get at disneyland. im gunna go out on a limb here and say that theyre not bad. BUT i would ONLY get one of these if i for some reason i had the only one. it might be a cool signiture guitar to have. but not mass produced.

Actually Gibson pickups are all pretty decent. The Burstbuckers are amoung my favs (a BB1 and 500T is one of my fav combos) and I still stand by the P94 as the best P90 humbucker sized replacement.

I actually quite like the black and natural, not that I'd ever buy one. Looks interesting though. That neck joint probably wouldn't break in a million years.

I actually really like the look of the black and red one, and even the rainbow one doesn't look awful. I'm not sure what to think of the laminate body, but like AndyC said it's probably actually more durable than normal. I'd have to play one to see if the sound and sustain felt right, but if I was looking to buy a new SG I'd be interested to try one out.
