For me, the Analogman King Of Tone is a really versitile and powerful boost / drive pedal. Costs a lot though.

What's the best OD/Dist/Fuzz pedal?
Moderator: bclaire
For a stand alone fuzz pedal, I'd try the Electro-Harmonix Graphic Fuzz EQ. You can achieve a plethora of different fuzz colors with this one, considering it has on board sustain and dynamic levels. Besides that, it's got a seven band EQ built right into it. You can find the sweet spot on this pedal pretty easily. Just my opinion.
Give us liquor or give us death....

Just tried out the following:
Wampler Plextortion / Wampler Cranked AC - These two were voiced very similar w/ the Cranked AC being like a low gain version of the Plextortion to my ears. I didn't really care for either of these. Too fizzy for me.
Wampler Ego Compressor - Nice compressor. What are these good for again? (kidding)
Wampler Pinnacle - The best of the four pedals. Pretty darn flexible. I'm not done messing around w/ this one just yet. Maybe not for me, but certainly worth a look.
Let me just say that the Wampler stuff seems to be top notch quality. Very clean work and very cool that I got to 'try before I buy.' THANKS ERIC!
Keeley modded TS808 - Not much better than the regular TS808.
Keeley modded TS9 - Same as above. Neither one of these live up to the hype IMHO.
Keeley modded Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive - meh.
I have yet to come across a Keeley pedal that I liked. Just me I guess.
Prescription Electronic Dual Tone - bleh.
Marshall Guv'nor 2 - Too metal - metallic - scooped sounding.
Boss Blues Driver - Better than a lot of these, but not great.
Older Fulltone Fulldrive II - Better than the newer Mosfet one I tried the other day, but still has that harsh, sterile Fulltone sound to it.
I re-bought the Flying Tomato that I returned. It's a neat fuzz, what can I say.
I haven't found anything better than the Crunch Box at this point. I do want to try the DLS and the Okko Diable though. The search continues...

FUZZZ....I have fallen "back" in love with my protone hustler. I put an MXR Q-zone in front of it coupled with a 72 Tele deluxe tuned AADGBE through a 600 watt Genz Benz Shuttle and 2 Traynor 15"ers........DOOOOOOOOM!
