I had the MOSFET version and still... not really an impressive effect. BUT, it didn't sound terrible or anything. Just... not as good as some other cheaper effects I've used.Knuckle Bones wrote:You try the Mosfet version?Wired wrote:+1WannaBmyself wrote:Didn't care much for the Fulldrive, but the Maxon version of the TS9 is great. And I recently tried a Lovepedal Eternity (supposedly a TS9 clone) and I think I'll be getting that.
the fulldrive is just..... well its not impressive, but it's not bad either. it's just... a pedal
my fav TS clone has been and probably always will be the Sparkle Drive from Voodoo.
Funny because I actually feel that way about the TS9...it's OK..but the 808 is much better..and the Fulldrive. Different strokes.
What's the best OD/Dist/Fuzz pedal?

I would recommend the Route 66 by visual sound, the pedal has a tube screamer on one side and a compressor on the other. I use the TS side with the gain very low to give a great edge of breakup sound (same thing that a Klon does) and I use the compressor as lead boost so not only do my solos cut through nicely the compressor allow me to adjust the amount of sustain so that each note is clear. Also, there is a bass boost switch for the TS side and a tone control on the compressor side to give you more options. For the money these pedals are pretty amazing.

I stick with the first answers. I'm using the TS9 by Ibanez and it does the job, is reliable, has a neutral buffer. Can also recommend the TS808 and the Maxon pedals. Get the latter ones if you want true bypass. That said....
The Digitech Bad Monkey is a good buy. Check that out! It has a bass control.

I'm actually gravitating towards these. I have had a few of his pedals and they are top-notch.markjazzbassist wrote:im suprised no one has mentioned analogman's modified maxon and ibanez ts808 and ts9's.
he's one of the best IMO.

I've got the Robert Keeley modded TS9 and it kills! It's got the more/less gain mod which gives the gain knob a much wider sweep. Using it in front of my RV50 (or any other tube amp set dirty) for a solo boost I find that with the volume maxed and the gain on 0 or just barely above it works perfect... I've also used it in front of amps similar to the Deluxe Reverb and it works great to add a little (or a lot with the Keeley mod...) dirt.... hope this helps!

T-Rex Michael Angelo Batio Overdrive since one hour.
Less nasal than my TS-9, bit more clarity than the TS-9, more cream, more classic rockt tone with more sustain ! It complements the dirty channel of my Rocker 30H, set to a slight crunch, very well !
Great Pedal !

Cusack screamer has always been my favorite, and the one pedal I've always come back to no matter how many other pedals I've bought and sold. The analogman modded tube screamers are pretty good as well.

I enjoyed my BBE Green Screamer more than stock TS9's. The TS808 is pretty good, as is the Route 66 (and the added compressor is nice).
My favorite pedal right now for tube screamer sounds is the Danelectro Transparent Overdrive. Still has a mid hump like a tubescreamer but sounds less boxy and more open...also slightly glassy which I imagine would be great for slide. Others may disagree, but it satisfied my tube screamer craving and made me sell off the BBE.

Anything mentioned so far is good, some better than others, but you won't go wrong with any.
I'm going to toss the NOC3 Firefly into the mix.
Excellent pedal. Preferred it to my Maxon OD808.
