I am seriously considering Orange for my next bass amp, does anybody out there know of any recording artists who used the Orange Bass amp on their albums, or in live shows? I am wondering if it has the same kind of power that the Marshall VBT400 can put out. At only 200 watts, can it cut it in a live rock and roll situation in large venues like the Marshall, or even the Eden amps? For the price, 200 watts seems a bit under powered...what are your thoughts people? I would love to hear from some Orange Bass amp owners!

Thanks!

Im thinking about buying an Orange bass amp as well, I reckon 200W will be plenty, any big venue will have you in the house PA anyway
Ive toured the UK using a LAney 150 head and 4x10 which just about dealt with everything and it was a tranny amp.

The one time I used an orange amp it nearly tore my trousers off (it was an early 70's guitar head and 4x12, (I was 15 and borrowed it off a friend of my Dads)

All i know is their 120 watt OR120 guitar head is LOUD!!! I have heard rumors that some have even powered 4 4x12 cabinets with it. Orange is know for loud amps. I would'nt let the 200 watt rating discourge you. As far as bass amp users i know of none. Thats the cool thing though not everyone and there brother has the Orange sound. There could be a review at Harmonycentral.com.

I own a Ad140 b, and put it through a home made 2x15" cab, it trust me it is LOUD!!

I can only imagine the Ad200 would be more than enough!

Wilco was on Letterman a couple of weeks ago and the bass player was playing a p-bass through an old Orange amp. It sounded GREAT.

I have had the opportunity to play the Orange Bass amp through an Orange 4x10 cabinet at my local Guitarworks shop, and it has a fabulous tone! As far as volume goes, I have no idea considering I played it in the music store...perhaps I could persuade them to rent it to me for a night to try it out in a full band situation...I bought a Crush 10 guitar practice amp and I love it for recording direct into my computer, and for just jamming quietly here in my apartment. I am getting addicted to the Orange look and brilliant warm tone, and now that I own one, I want more! I am hoping that somebody will know someone or of someone who has and uses the bass amp so I can get a little more insight into it...the price of them here is quite high, $2600 for the head, and just over $2000 for the 4x10 cab, which is easily the most expensive rig in town. This is weighing heavily on my decision...

Thanks JOel, I listened to some of the samples off your home pge, cool stuff! If the Ad140 b can put it out like that and you are happy with it onstage, sounds like it would more than fit the bill for me!

Hey Mike you may think about ordering on the internet mail order. It posible you can get a better price. Though shipping to Canada may play a major factor. Posible the head may be a good idea to get mail order. The cab on the other hand. You may buy it there. Though i dont know what the prices on the bass stuff is. That may be a good price?

Hey Mike, I think Guitarworks in Calgary are giving pretty decent deals and I think if you squeeze enough and do some price shopping around, even in the US, u might be able to get them drop the price a bit, hey u have one less tax than us Ontarians.....I bought a guitar head and cab from GW all the way from Calgary, no regrets, although a length process....

Pardon my ignorance (as I'm quite new to the guitar game) are bass amps typically a lot more demandin than guitar ampsin terms of wattage as it's driving those fat bass speakers? Am I mistaken? I only heard about that somewhere

I seem to recall a rule of thumb along the lines of Bass amp needs at least twice the power of the guitar amp...

I am the proud owner of the Orange Mata amp Bass Amp. It really rocks!!!

Unfortunately I'm getting married and my wife wants me to sell my rig because she wants to start a family. I also have the Orange 2x15 Bass Cab with the original Greenbacks in it. The Cabinet is killed and looks like its been through a war. The speakers are in prime shape and the Head is absolutely killer sounding.

I love my Orange Bass Head (Vintage...Not a Re-Issue)and I will miss it once I sell it.

P.S. Matt Sharpe from Weezer uses the exact same head as I do.
