Whats the difference in tone between the traditional, vintage and contemporary cabs?

There is a noticeable difference in tone. I have a 2x12 traditional and two 4x12 contemporary Avatar cabs. The larger contemporary cabs are very heavy, very focused sounding cabs while the traditional has thinner wood. Makes it sound a little more open, a little more bassy.
