Did anyone here catch the season finale of American Idol? I know it's probably not most people's cup of tea, but it was a pretty entertaining episode. There were performances from Keith Urban, Kiss, Brian May, Cindy Lauper, Lionel Richie, and a few others.

I can't get over how good the one singer Adam Lambert is, and that somehow he lost to Kris Allen, who is mediocre at best. Aside from that though it was a pretty cool show.

Yeah Adam is a much better singer/performer than Kris... I think there is going to be some major controversy(Unfortunately) due to the radicals that support Adam's lifestyle.

I don't watch American Idol, but on Chris Ferguson Late Night last night, he was talking about how "Adam, who wears eye liner, may or may not be gay." and how some chick (not sure who he said) "who doesn't wear eye liner, may or may not be gay." It was kinda funny. And then he used the "may or may not be gay" line throughout the night randomly. :P

I made a point of not watching at all this season.

And Craig Ferguson is an idiot.

I take so much pride in not even knowing what time the show is on, who the contestants are, or any details for that matter.

If I was in a room full of idol "stars", I wouldn't know it.

You and I are rowing in the same boat.

I hate that show because these people get graded on how good they can sing other people's stuff... or that's what I thought the objective was when I saw part of one episode one night. It's stupid that someone could win a record contract and money or whatever they get for singing someone else' tunes...

Ach it aint such a bad show if you can ignore the goings on of the judges, the pathetic attempts to create tension, the hype and so on.

On shows like that you are guranteed that mediocre is going to win out, because the public are voting and some vote for the cute guy or the cute gal, some vote for the voice, the look, but the end result will often be bland because bland sells.

That said, the folks who get through to the final stages are usually pretty good artists and if they get a career out of it more power to them. Any opportunity in this tawdry world to get to use your talent to make your living has got to be good.

Incidentally, I would LOVE to see these folk try and win without the superb musicians and backing singers that support them and probably make them sound better than they really are.

And hey......the show is primarily for entertainment. Great to chill out in front of with a beer on a rainy night after a long day......sides...Kara DioGuardi is a looker......

Wow, a lot of hate on here towards american idol! I'm not going to lie, I thought the show was totally lame too, until I stumbled across an episode on tv and Adam Lambert was doing a really weird but cool middle eastern sounding cover of Ring Of Fire by Johnny Cash. The dude is seriously an unbelievable singer, and his arrangements and interpretations of songs are really cool. He is a real artist, not just a singer. If you like music, and you see this guy singing, I guarantee you would not change the channel.

Check this out, it's a totally rockin' version of Whole Lotta Love, and it's got Orange amps in the backline!
