They're PLEKing their guitars...the f#@king perverts! Seriously, when did that start and is it on all new Gibsons? Not just Les Pauls and the more expensive guitars but they do it on all guitars now, right?

I'm not even positive that it's on all Les Pauls or not, however, I don't believe Gibson is universally Plek'ing their lines. I imagine it isn't very cost effective on a faded special or even an SG classic.

They were doing the hysterics and custom shop from Nashville a couple of years ago, they started some Memphis guitars last year (IIRC) but I'm not sure if its every line yet. The Gibby site prolly tells the story but I get bored trudging around such a confusing site (which they have been upgrading for the whole of 2009 it seems).

Pleking gets a lot of the setups a little better but they all benefit from a tweek to your own preference once you get them home.

I saw a few new 2009 Les Paul Traditionals (the Les Paul standard pre-2009 before people became so wussified that a regular Les Paul is too heavy ) and the bridge pickup ('57 classics on the Traditional/ex-standard now) had a PLEK'D sticker on it. I didn't even know what it meant until someone there explained it.

They tested it on the 2006 VOS models...and liked it so much they now own a Plek machine in nashville and do all the higher priced models...
I dont know if they do the lower lines ..???

Probably cheaper to Plek than have someone set them up by hand....then charge more for less hands on labor.

i almpost in to selling my Gibson Les Paul classic from 2004 wich is fantastic... to buy an japanese copy, Burny from the 80:s. I think the wood in them is actuallt better then in all gibsons after 1960 an forward, and I save a LOT money. The new ones i wouldnt touch. I played one 2009 gibson standard and it felt rather cheap.
