My new Les Paul copy
I recently made a Craigslist trade of my old, worn acoustic guitar for a Encore E 49 R Les Paul copy that came loaded with a Gibson 490 & 496 pickups. It also has Planet Waves locking tuners installed, which seem to keep it in tune really well. The trade deal included an old Crate 60XL amp, which surprisingly still works well. I just finished cleaning her up, installing a set of D' Addario 10's, setting action and the intonation. I plugged into my Rocker 30 and was shocked at how good the tone was using this economy guitar. Granted, it will never be a real Gibson, but it certainly would do well for a backup or even a beater guitar to take places where you wouldn't want to take you're prized gear. Below is my 1993 Gibson Les Paul Studio, with ebony fretboard and covered with autographs from the current lineup of Deep Purple, who I met late after a show in 2003 with Thin Lizzy. To the right, is the Encore Les Paul. I will eventually cover up the cheesy Encore logo with some artwork.
awesome
personally i think you should keep the Encore logo - it's so bad it's good...

At first I wanted to cover up the logo in some way, but I do agree. That does sound cool to have a guitar that is a wolf in sheeps clothing.BrianGT wrote:Nice guitar!
Keep the Logo.......because there is always someone sneering at your gear on stage........."OH......it's not a REAL LP"
Then just pickit up and blow them away!
Many of my guitars are copies of the real thing......including MY LP!
Nice collection you have there in your sig!

Thank you! I've owned some beater guitars in the past and they are cool to have especially when they shock people with how good they play/sound.Bensen wrote:Beautiful paulas!!!
I love beater guitars, my partscaster esquire was only about 120 bucks(johnson tele+gfs pickup+squier neck+sticker to hide the neck pup cavity), but it sounds so cool, i let everybody play it and its just fun.
Good shout. You couldn't forge Phil's sig on your Studio?Wicked_Tone wrote:You guys have convinced me. I'll keep the logo.Pacemaker wrote:Yeaaa. Keep it, its cool.Van Cleef wrote:awesome
