How often do you really use a chorus pedal?

Post by Aslan » Thu Apr 30, 2009 3:22 am

I've thought about getting a high quality chorus but I've found that at most gigs I only use the chorus on one or two songs at the most. How much do you guys really use your chorus???????

I find that I like to control my warbles a bit more with a bend of the neck, a pull of the fingers, a push of the vibrato tail. Chorus just isn't my thing.

I think if you are using a pedal only twice a night, thats a good thing. A bit of seasoning on your steak as it were. If you found yourself using it all the time, then I would expect you to question yourself on the subject.
Here we go; three, four...

Depends on my mood... if I'm playing totally dark wave 80's type stuff, I use it constantly, but pretty much anything else, it stays off. I could easily live without it.

Good to use with one amp when bi-amping... although to be honest, I haven't used mine for a while. Or the flanger.

Then again, it's been a while since I broke out my electric rig. I'm hanging onto them as I know otherwise the point at which I sell them, i'll need them the next day.

Using chorus effects is completely dependent on the type of thing I'm doing, but unless I'm going for full 80's-style chorus I tend to use it as a sort of extra dimension to the sound, and most definitely NOT all the time, as with any modulation effect.

I use an old CE-2 almost all the time set to a very light setting - adds a little shimmer and depth

When I still used my Vox ToneLab SE I used it on my clean channel all the time. Now that I'm building a new pedalboard (getting my Volume pedal tomorrow) the Chorus is the last thing on my list. Unfortunately I'm not about to go spend hundreds on a system that switches everything with one button (think G-System) so I'll probably use it even less.

I have moments where I'm gassing for one so I go buy it only to take it back off my board to sell and make room for something I'll use more.

I use mine for 2-3 songs - but never for a traditional chorus sound! Thank you Dr. Scientist!!!
