Ever play a 65 Amp?

Post by Aslan » Mon Apr 27, 2009 9:19 pm

Has anyone ever played on a 65 Amp, seems like a lot of the local guitar slingers are getting them. Also I've noticed several major acts have them now. More curious than anything.

I have a 65 Marquee, and let me tell you 65 Amps are some of the absolute best out there.
Superior high quality amplifiers.
I play a 65 along with my Orange AD30TC.
LOVE them both.

Are they more of a clean amp like a Fender?

You guys might be familiar with Proguitarshop.com?
Those guys who makes all those great demo vids on youtube on lots of gear.
They say this on 65 amps:
65 amps have completely blown our minds, and we play A LOT of amplifiers on a daily basis. We get sweet vintage amps and fancy boutique creations coming through our doors pretty regularly, so an amp has to be pretty spectacular to impress us.
I haven't had the pleasure to try one myself, but it had to sound good before I would buy such an ugly looking amp. :P

I'm speaking out of my a$$. Yours might differ.

Nod, every demo video i've seen by them always says, "...through a 65 Amp Soho" or something like that. Nice clean tone.

Yeah I have a dealer close to me with tons of 65 Amps stocked and they all sound amazing. They are some of the most articulate amps I have ever played. They have a lot of harmonics when you drive them too. The Soho, London, and Royal Albert are all amazing amps made with the best parts...period. I would have one but I like amps that have more gain available. I haven't tried them with pedals though. Does anyone know how they take pedals?

They sound good, not really considered a clean amp. Really deep and rich sounding over drive. Played a couple a couple months back. Try it, and sell it to someone on the gear page if you don't like it. But it's pretty much guaranteed to blow minds.

 I'm gonna go ahead and say yes, given that they use them for 99% of all the proguitarshop demos :p

Corky,
I did not think I would live to see the day when there was an amp that you haven't tried! I am in shock, your the one person I could always depend on, next thing you know I'll be abducted by aliens and be forced to listen to elevator music 24 hrs a day!!!

hahahahahahha....sorry dude.
There are lots of amps out there I have not played on...

I am getting a 1980 Fender 30 1-12 combo today ...
It needs work...new caps new resisters, and a new speaker...but this is a rivera era amp..PTP and can sound like a Dumble when set up right...

I have heard this amp in studios and it really can nail that two rock/dumble robben ford tone thing...

I am getting it just for practice and a different voice in the studio...
