TT Combo Vs. Laney Lionheart L5T-112

Post by neilmac » Thu Apr 23, 2009 2:30 pm

:D Hi I am a newbie here with a brand new Tiny Terror Combo
which I love by the way

BUT.. (as Austin Powers said) having said that I wish I could have tried
a Laney Lionheart L5T-112
as a comparison but no shops or suppliers had one!

It would have been good to try the TT Combo against this all-Brit amp

Does anyone have any comparisons or opinions on the two head to head?

Are they in the same league?

Also how do I determine what number I am in the Tiny Terror Club
(assuming I may be a member)

Regards Neilmac

I haven't played the Lionheart, but I'd say it is probably a more versatile amp - 2 channels, reverb, etc.

Also made in England of course, if that matters to you!

It'd need micing up live, but I guess so might the TT for anything but small places.

From all the clips etc I've heard, the Lionheart sounds fantastic. I'd love to try the 20w head and 2x12 cab personally.

Thanks Teddy for the opinion - my thoughts exactly!
I wish manufacturers would back up their hype by making their stuff available! I only managed to find the 4x10 combo version LH which is gorgeous but twice the $ of the TT combo here in Oz and yes all Brit
is appealing!
PS great band you have & great guitar sound!
Do you use pedals for the grunge / distortion or is that all Orange?
cheers neil

Welcome Neil. I can't answer your question, but welcome anyway.

Where in Oz are you, and where did you get the TT combo from?

Thanks mate!
I'm in the hills in Melbourne, up in the Dandenong Ranges
I got the TT from a tiny place in Footscray with an eBay site
-started with a Crush 30 but then tried an AD-5 which was nice but I realized pretty quickly I needed the beefier sound of the TT and also the ability to rock at tiny volumes! I love the TT but now I've been awakened to valve amps and how they sound I would have liked to have tried the Laney as above
I'd also love to make a valve amp next and my own extension cab etc.
when more $ falls from the sky of course!
Whereabouts are you in Oz?
cheers Neil

I love my TT, but I'd love to try out the Lionheart head, plus the foot-switchable reverb sells itself really.

Thanks Neil, glad you liked the music! If you listened to our latest album, the distortion is the AD30TC with no pedals panned to one side but on the other side it's a Bass Big Muff into an Ashdown bass head :)

hi wishpig sorry for the confusion!
i was merely wondering if Orange were planning soon to bring out an 'affordable'
made in China version of perhaps the Rockerverb or similar in order to compete with the chinese made Randalls, HT's, Epiphones, Vox's, Fenders etc.
cheers neil

Well there's Global Vintage, which I suspect is what you're thinking of, which has a huge pedal range and lots of Japanese guitars. Also there's Jackson's Rare Guitars, where I got the Duesenberg in the sig.

Dual Terror is out soon - which is pretty much exactly what you're describing, a Chinese-made 2 channel Orange.
