I have an offer, should I take it?

Post by Secondhand Dan » Tue Apr 14, 2009 3:55 am

Someone has offered me a Tiny Terror, new in box in exchange for my Les Paul Special Faded that has been signed by Les Paul.

Note: I have no real connection with the guitar and haven't played it in over a year and I don't really have any feelings for Les Paul as a musician so the signature means little.

So, Should I take him up on the trade?

I guess it depends. If you don't NEED the amp, I'd say no.

Unless you're into trying out the Tiny Terror. I'm just thinking the faded LP is worth more than the TT.

Id say No if the guitar is in good condition, u could always sell the Gibson and buy the TT if its at a resonable price - u should come off with some money in your pocket.

I don't want to come across as callous or anything, but you may find that your signed guitar increases substantially in value when the great man leaves us.

As above... the guitar is worth more than the TT.

Other question to ask is why is that guy selling a TT new in box? What's wrong with it?

Even unsigned, if the guitar is in good condition, I would think it would be worth a couple hundred dollars more than the TT.

I vote no...but I absolutely love my LP Special.

If you do decide to keep it, load it with some Lindy Fralin p90s. They can be found pretty cheaply on ebay and you might just realize how much you can love the guitar.

Just my two cents worth!

after looking at e-bay, they seem to be about equal value i think so the only real consideration in my opinion is how much did you pay for the Les paul. if you paid more for it than the cost of a new TT, than its a bad deal for you and you're better off getting more for your money elsewhere

Unfortunately mine is the Humbucker model, otherwise I probably would not be looking to sell

Wait til long after Les Paul passes, then see how much money you've got sitting around in the form of a guitar.
