Plug straight into a 1971 superlead (without any effects, it's sort of like an overdrive pedal)

<br />Woah, you have a Centaur, Clay? What do you think of it? I could buy one in lieu of the Ethos, but I dunno if it's worth it.

The Centaur and the Analogman King of Tone are both great pedals.I can't say that they will be any improvement over the G2D Creamtone. The Creamtone is still my all time favorite overdrive. If you took all three and put them on a board,I am sure you would find one of the three that you clearly liked the best with certain amps.
I am going to have to set it up and do the test again.Back when I had freaking killer tone I was playing my Nocaster, Retro 50 and either the Analogman King of Tone, or the Klon.

Paint it blue 4 soul.
I have an old Electro-Harmonix "Screaming Tree" treble booster, which was a pretty terrible pedal stock. I changed the cap values around a few times until there was only the smallest amount of high end added when engaged, and wired it for true bypass. I've been more than happy with that for an OD for about 16 years now.

IMO there is no best pedal for all amps. The Klon makes the list for me once again ,because I am trying to retrace my steps back tonewise to where I was before I screwed everything up.

I did the same thing. I messed everything up and Im trying to get it back. I tried to re-invent the wheel. I didn't work:o
