I've read many threads extolling the different virtues of this or that beer, well I have found the "ultimate" beer" and I challenge any other forum members to try it:

<font size="3">Killian's <font color="green">Irish</font id="green"> <font color="red">Red</font id="red"> Lager</font id="size3">

This is better then any other I've tried, so let the flaming begin!

If you're gonna talk Red -

Red Rocket Ale - Bear Republic Brewery

and the greatest Red Ale ever -

Founder's Red's Rye Ale

On the same snobby, beer advocate scale, Killian's only received a C+ both from public reviewers, and the beer advocate website moderators and I really have to agree.

Killian's is decent, but it has that hint of cheapness found in most large brewery lagers. It doesn't come immediately when tasting, but in the very tail end of the finish.

The Red Rocket ale looks interesting, I'm going to have to find if they stock it anywhere in town.

red rocket is good but it's not what i'd call a traditional red ale. it's really hoppy if i remember correctly, and tastes more like an (american microbrew) ipa. good for me, not for everyone though.

Yeah, it's definitely American 'craft' brew, and traditional? No, but not quite hoppy enough to be an IPA.

It's not bad. You'd probably like Newcastle as well.

Listen up guys!

Americans don't even know HOW to make beer! [:p]

You need a good pint of Tetley's draught.....now THAT'S Beer!

Then you will realise all that nat's piss you are drinking isn't even worth getting a glass dirty! :D

While I agree that 95% of Americans wouldn't know a good or real beer if it fell in their laps, there are many small craft breweries in America that make amazing beers. I don't think the UK can argue for the best of beers though, they have some good beers, but the prize of best beer bragging rights belongs to Belgium.

Also, if you're talking crap on the mega beer giants like budweiser and coors, I think that crap is awful and gives Americans a bad reputation in the beer world.

If that happens over here, the father goes to jail. :( Europe did alright exporting all its puritanical religious nut jobs to the "New World" back in the 16 & 17 hundreds......

And, FWIW, when I was in college we used to affectionately refer to Killian's as rat piss. Of course, we drank it because we were stupid and had few decent alternatives.
