Im looking for the most intense, gritty, and raucous distortion/fuzz there is. Besides that the only criteria is that its NOT the Zvex fuzz factory and that its still somewhat musical. Something that sounds like the distorted synth in this song.

thats easy,, digitech whammy (for the electronic octave) and a noise gate for the sudden stops maybe even add a big muff at the top for the grit.

I got a TRex Mudhoney recently - very interesting distortion/fuzz/overdrive type thing going on in it.

as chinese forktie stated - look into death by audio pedals, they will get you there.

anyhow, i have the fuzz war and it's an amazing fuzz, handbuilt and pretty reasonable at $150 shipped. BUT, that dude builds some more fuzz type units that are even MORE WAAAY over the top than my fuzz war. http://www.deathbyaudio.net/

devi ever is defintaly the best place to start and DBA (espically the octave clang) and dwarfcraft will all do what you want. mid-fi would be a cool place to look too as well.

if your on the cheap the danelectro french toast is a foxx tone mechine but just with a plastic case and not as nice swiches...

and some tech helper type said, "Gee, Mr Atkins, that guitar sure sounds fabulous!" Chet put the guitar on it's stand and said, "Well, how does it sound now?"

A super gated fuzz would be key. Dr Scientist Frazzdazzler or a Fuzz War.

EHX Synth Pedal - I owned it for like two days before returning it cuz it sucked tone like mad from my bypass signal, but it was pretty cool otherwise.

Having visited the death by audio website, and judging by the soundclips.......I would go for their supersonic fuzz gun!!!

By the way... I love Justice!!!

I was going to suggest the metasonix butt probe, but the whole "musical" aspect of it, not quite.
