That is sick. Somebody posted an old Orange catalogue on here a while ago and it had that in it. I wonder how a valve PA would sound?

i understand that Orange made PA units in the 70's but is this real one of those, it dose not look like an Orange chassi among other thing's that don't seem to match up with a 1974 unit, there no piping around the head sleeve and not only dose it not look like an Orange chassi but i believe in that year the internal chassi itself should have been orange in color to.

That doesnt look like an orange to me....my first thought was a early to mid 70's Laney Klipp or Sound City PA. The wiring tends to indicate it isnt Sound City...they were far better layed out than that amp. It appears to be british made judging from the components....likely one of the smaller manafacturers. Definitely not an Orange though....Orange PA's looked like an OR120 with more inputs ;)

Those are my catalog scans in serial numbers. From 1973 catalog:

From 1971 catalog:

I have never seen an Orange PA that looked like that. The sleeve looks right-ish but could be a repro. The faceplate is definitely NOT Orange, just a piece of sheetmetal with a logo attached.

My best guess is, it's not an Orange.

Emailed the guy to ask about it and got this:

LISTEN, THIS CAME FROM AN AMP MUSEUM ~ THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THIS ALSO OWNS "THEE AMP" THE BEATLES USED IN THE CAVERN CLUB RECORDINGS @ A PRICE OF $135,000. IF IT'S NOT IN YOUR CATALOGS, OH WELL. IT'S AN ALL ORIGINAL RARE HEAD WITH LOTS OF ORANGE COLLECTERS INTERESTED THAT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT IS. THE TONE OF YOUR FIRST MAIL WAS UNCALLED FOR, PLAIN RUDE!. I KNOW WHAT I HAVE & IF YOUR NOT FAMILIAR WITH IT DON'T MEAN IT DON'T EXIST. IT MEANS (YOUR) NOT FAMILIAR WITH IT. IT'S RARE & ALL ORIGINAL(EXCEPT TUBES). MY 2X15 ORANGE CAB I SOLD TO JOHN MAYER. I SUPPOSE IF THAT'S NOT IN YOUR CATALOGS IT DON'T EXIST NIETHER. I OWN A FLEET OF VINTAGE MARSHALL CATALOGS & I KNOW OF SEVERAL ITEMS WHICH WERE NOT IN THERE CATALOGS BECAUSE THEY WERE ONLY AVAILIABLE THROUGH "MAIL ORDER"~THROUGH THERE AFFIATED DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES(EXAMPLE PARK MORRIS/CLEARTONE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS(CMI), ETC...ALSO, THERE'S LOTS OF PROTOTYPES OUT THERE THAT WERE NEVER MASS PRODUCED-OR CANCELED JUST MONTHS INTO THE PRODUCTION.
PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND, I'M THROUGH WITH THE NON-SENCE. PLEASE DON'T BUT THIS. I HAVE INCREDIABLY HIGH FEEDBACK (DSR SCORES) BECAUSE I OFFER GREAT SERVICE AND AM VERY HONEST. WHY WOULD I ON PURPOSLY MIS-REPRESENT SOMETHING TO BEGIN WITH? UNREAL.

I don't know what you initially wrote to that guy, but it seems like he's got something to hide with that attitude.

I asked him if it was really an Orange and how he came to that conclusion since the logo came from a speaker cabinet and the chassis looked like a Sound City, not an Orange. I also sent links to the 1971 and 1973 catalogs.

That's a pretty terrible fake... It definitely looks like the Sound City PA layout from a catalog I was recently looking through. (I currently have an early 70s Sound City L100W on my bench at the moment).

What is that old saying "The best defence is a good Offence". If he has nothing to hide he could just show a picture of the serial number and I am sure the amp could be traced that way (at least I think they can date most amps by this but not sure about amps of that age)

If it is indeed a fake is there some way to get the auction removed because this is essentially fraud and I'd feel pretty bad for any poor sod that buys this.
