I am going back to the studio at the end of the month. It will be interesting to see which one records the best my Nocaster or my SG.I am really digging the SG because of the ultra clean humless pickups. It is sweet as the summer rain or as powerfull as the hammer.

If the Army issued a guitar, it would be a Tele. Rugged, utilitarian, everything you need and nothing you don't. No middle pickup to get in your way, no volume knob in the way, no floating bridge to go out of tune. Nothing but pure, raw, in-your-face tone!

Actually, the volume knob gets in the way of my playing a bit, and I turn down the volume at times :)

I feel that way about the volume knob on strats. I truly feel like a tele is THE basic guitar. Solid block o wood, so effing basic with no BS.

Since when was the Tele not a mainstream instrument? There's a ton of tele players out there, and it has a reputation as good as the Strats.

The Tele is not the best guitar out there... not for me anyways. That award is present to my Gibson ES-335.

<br />A few reasons why Teles aren't perfect:

1. They don't have a middle pickup
2. They can hum too much
3. Most don't have wang bars

A few reasons why Strats aren't perfect:

1. Some people just don't want a 3rd pickup
2. They can hum too much
3. Who needs a stinkin wang bar?

A few reasons why Les Pauls and SGs and 335s etc. aren't perfect:

1. They don't have 3 pickups
2. Some are too damn heavy
3. Humbuckers don't sound as good as single coils
4. Most don't have wang bars

In short....ain't no perfect guitars...not perfect for everyone.

Number 999: they make a great weapon, and don't go out of tune when you hit someone with one.

gotta say... my tele stays in tune better than all my other guitars - even the ones with locking tuners...

Van Cleef,my Bigsby tele,s not as bad as I thought it would be regarding tuning issues,Just keep the nut and bridge saddles lubed(I use nut sauce)Only really goes out if I,m pushing yhe wammy to it,s limits on a couple of songs we do....
