Hi,
My AD15 has begun squealing once the gain is raised beyond 12 O'clock. I have tried replacing all the valves however this does not rectify the problem. Once the gain is raised further the squeal begins to oscillate sounding like a fax machine.
I would be really grateful if anyone could advise me as to what the problem may be and how I might go about rectifying it.
Many Thanks

Microphonic tubes would normally be the first thing to check for but if you have changed and checked the tubes it could possibly be your pickups that are causing the squeal rather than the amp itself.
Do you have another amp you can try the guitar on or equally another guitar you could try with the AD15 to see if this is the problem?

Thanks for the suggestion however I have tried several different guitars, this makes no difference, also the amp makes the same noise even when no guitar is connected (but only when something is plugged in, when no lead is inserted the amp is silent). I have another amp which is silent with the same guitars.

maybe the speaker is bad,, take it to a tech, you can ruin the output tranny if you keep turning it up

Tube Amplifier Debugging Page:
SQUEALS
I'd try cleaning the input jack with electrical contact cleaner. Just spray some cleaner on a jack plug and plug and unplug it as the stuff evapourates. Actually quite a good chance that'll sort you.

Re: AD15 Squealing, Please Help!
Hi, and sorry to bump such an old thread, but I'm experiencing a similar "squealing" issue with my AD15. With the master turned close to all the way up, I can only get the gain up around 3 before it starts howling/squealing. If I turn the treble all the down I can almost get it up to 5... I've swapped all the tubes and the squeal is still there. I was wondering anyone who has also had this problem has been able to fix it and possibly share what their solution was. Many thanks for any replies.

With the volume all the way up, you have to be at a reasonable distance from the amp.
That loud, squealing is not something unusual. Try to step away from the speaker, and see how it goes.

This squealing happens with nothing plugged in to the amp input jack(happens much worse when something is plugged in). It's a very "ringy" squeal.

Has it just started happening?HCW wrote:This squealing happens with nothing plugged in to the amp input jack(happens much worse when something is plugged in). It's a very "ringy" squeal.
Does it happen if you play that amp in another building?
