I am in a real pain in the a$$ right now.
My dirty channel is not working and I am really frustrated to play
with only clean channel.
My dirty channel is real muddy and really quiet. So I thought the
blames gotta fall on the tubes.
On Orange website said there are 3 pre tubes and 4 outputs.
I don't know what dirty channel is using.
Do 3 pre tubes handle dirty channel? Or Is it the 4 outputs that
handle dirty channel?
My clean channel is working fine but I wanna change 'em all at the
same time so please tell me what tubes to buy for the dirty channel
and clean channel.
Tubes for RV 50
Moderator: bclaire
The preamp tubes for the clean and dirty are the same value...12AX7's.
If you don't have any spare tubes just now..here's what to do!
Search the forum for " RV50 tube layout".....you will find it.
Take out the reverb tube (from the diagram) and put it in the dirty channel preamp slot ..........the reverb valve has slightly lower gain but it will fit and work fine....that will tell you if it IS the dirty channel preamp valve. The amp will work without the reverb valve inserted and it will cause no damage but , obviously, you won't have reverb.
It will let you know if it is a preamp valve.
Edited: the dirty channel uses 2 valves........but it is likely only one is faulty....you should be able to find which one by swapping each out in turn.

Well...that would depend on which part of the world you are in!
Your location isn't listed.

I use standard JJ's, not high gain, just normal 12AX7's (JJ 12AX7's are labelled ecc83 or something) in my two dirty channel slots and they sound great! Check out Bob at www.eurotubes.com
