Just seeing if anyone in here listens to stuff like: The Bled. Underoath. August Burns Red. From First to Last...

I love alot of heavy stuff, not really a fan of "metal", and not huge on classic rock. I noticed alot of the crowd on here are geared towards classic rock. Just seeing if anyone out there is like me haha.

On a side note, my favorite band of all time is incubus. I love zepplin, hendrix, beatles, and a ton of other stuff. So i'm not trying to look like a classic, or old school rock n' roll hater. I love everything, but i don't see too many people ever talking about these other type of rock bands.
Love, Seth.

I hate incubus. sorry, the first band I was in covered rage against the machine, sublime, and incubus so I cant stand to listen to any of thoses bands (pardon me while puke...)silly kids that we were. any who.. im am curious about this topic cuz I see a lot of buzz about oranges and metal/harcore..curious, the sound doesn't seem to fit. I first was drawn to oranges because of the band clutch and just sort of fell in love w/ that tone. (semi-hardcore). but by far may favorite use of an orange is what stephen malkmus does. kind of classic rock revival w/an indie edge.

I don't really like that new "hardcore". The hardcore I like is the original stuff: Early 80's punk, American, British, Japanese, Finnish, Swedish, etc.

...and I can't stand that 90's crap... incubus, rage, sublime, etc.

I dig Underoath. I'm kinda in the same boat with Phil though, 90's music makes me cringe....

corporate commodity metal/hardcore is probably my least favourite genre but i also find it really interesting... like one day we'll find out that bands like Avenged Sevenfold were actually developed by the US military as a recruitment/retention tool for 'eye-rack'

The 90's crap that makes me cringe the most:

Sugar Ray, Smash Mouth, and all that other lame corporate pop rock of the 90's.

Man i didn't think people would hate incubus. What incubus are you talking about anyway? Each album is so different...

Oldschool punk may be one of my most hated music styles, other than rap and country.. especially early 80s. I guess my attention span is to short to listen to repetitive oldschool punk. It just seems elementary to me. Especially when songs start out with "lets go!" or "1,2,3,4!".

The main thing that kept me liking incubus was their evolving original guitar work. You can't say that the guitar work on make yourself or a crow left of the murder was uninteresting or unimpressive. Guitar solos they do are unique and far from typical. Listen to "sick sad little world" on a crow left of the murder all the way through. If that still sounds like 90s radio rock to you, than, exactly. That's just one example.
Love, Seth.

Incubus is just too 'gentle' for my liking... I like to keep it catchy, snotty, and yes, simple... but more than the 80's hardcore punk, I like more creative stuff with clean guitars but still played simply, snotty, punk, but still aggressively.

bands to check out:

Zounds (UK) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... d=87436114
Listen to "True Love"

Hans a Plast (Germany) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =255181526

Gang of Four (UK) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu ... =388505858

and to credit punk rock... most of what is going on these days would not be possible without what the Sex Pistols have done for Rock and Roll.

..and to keep an argument from arising in a forum, I'm just going to say that everyone has their own tastes... some prefer spinach, others will take a large steak. So there is no band that sucks
