Well i have just got my first orange! and it's only a cabinet, can't afford an amp yet, im using a marshall tsl 60 for the time being.

Fist off i love the sound!! but to the point;

I bought it second hand of some guy who had treated it very poorly, it was covered in marks a few rips and the jack plate was smashed up, bear was spilt down the front and on top some of the plywood has come unglued and is seperating.

And my handles arent the regular metal ones, they have a plastic body but a seperate actually metal handle with orange written on them. Are these just older ones which are no longer in production? The person i bought it off said it was 3 years old.. does anyone know how old it actually is?

I'm new btw, and am struggling with uploading images!

I hope you have better luck with the images getting uploaded, it may be the only way to tell. I've personally never heard of plastic handles on an Orange cab, but it may be possible.

Welcome to the forum.

Well the handle bar which you hold is metal, but the rest is a plastic shell, and the jack plate is also plastic? I would have thought at orange quality these would be metal but i've got nothing to compare it to.

alright richard!..

to upload immages, you need to host them on a site - like photobucket for example...
when you've got the link, paste it between [img] (removing the space before the square'd bracket!...)

can you get the jack plate off to get a look at the speakers inside?.. vintage 30's are what orange use in thier cabs..

is the orange badge nolonger on the front of it?..

also welcome to the forum
Will.

Ahhh.. i didnt realise you had to paste a web link, i was trying to paste my computer address for ages...

Still has both logos on the front a tiny bit worn, solidly attached though. I'm fairly sure its a genuine orange but maybe just old?

I opened it up earlier today and it does have 4x 16ohm vintage 30's inside, still sounding pretty fine :)

There ya go, there metal bit is the section with orange written on it, i think you can distinguish the two seperate pieces in the handle, the metal part slots in on top of the plastic so its flush on top (I did take one off to look inside.)

yeah, thats the real deal,, but its kinda weird cause it says its rated at 120 watts,, WTF.. that should say 240 watts, as the speakers are 60 watts a piece.

my cab is the Eminence version that is 120 watts, but the V30 cab should say 240 watts.

yeah i know.. i guess it was referring to stereo operation? but if it was surely the impedance would no longer be 16ohms and it would become 8ohms a side.

That is another thing that confused me, the jack plate has absolutely no markings or indications of whats what. And then it just says 16ohms 120watts which is clearly wrong somehow...

I'm not sure whats up with my half plastic handles then, as everyone elses are one solid piece of metal.

Does anyone else have a plastic jack plate with no markings like mine?

i have the same jack plate on mine, man don't worry its the real deal..

it's mono 4x12 operation at 16 Ohms, 240 watts as standard Orange cabs come. thats just a mistake made by the builder, common with Orange :?

all Orange cabs come 16 Ohms

If it only has mono operation, why does it have two inputs?

For daisy chaining.

Really don't understand why you are confused. It's an Orange 412 cab, as plain as day.

Mine says 300 watts on the back, s--- happens.
