For me, the solo by Grant Geissman in Chuck Mangione's "Feels so good". Even though I'm not really a jazz player there's something about that solo that just grabs me, he weaves the melody through the different progessions and gives the song so much energy. I know Van Halen can play notes at incredible speed but the guitarists that impress me the most are those who are able to create "lyrics" with the notes they choose, BB King and Eric Clapton can create so much energy and feel with so few notes. Anyway Grant Geissman's solo is my choice.

for me it would have to be the solo in Slayer's reign in blood. Kerry King is the man..

I would be happy if I could play Steve Vai's Juice from beginning to end.

Any Paul Gilbert solo. He is Awesome!!! Fast, yet tastefull.

Or maybe the solo from John Petrucci's Glasgow Kiss. Beautiful.

All along the watchtower - Hendrix's version, particularly the first solo after the intro solo.
I can play it, but I've never mastered it to the point where I'd be happy playing it live.

Man, I love that song!

There is a video somewhere on YouTube of Paul himself teaching that intro. He breaks it down and shows you piece by piece what he's playing. That's how I learned that one. So sweet! :D

Funny, I haven't though about that album in years.I agree with you about BB and Eric. I am not into speed, just notes that express a feel and emotion.Trower is a master at that.

Any solo that is dripping with feeling.........David Gilmore "comfortably numb", SRV "Texas Flood", and just about anything from these two guys, Blues Saraceno check out "Tommy Gun", Andy Timmons check out "Resolution" .

The list is infinite. Music is such a great gift! There has been so much over the years. But these kind of songs/solos will give you chills! At least they move me.

I've always wanted to be able to master the Solo to Painkiller by Judas Priest. I can do a lot of it, but I can't sweep worth S***.
